I have been going to this place for appx. 30 years, being from NYC, and having a wife from Tokyo, I have a pretty good understanding of what a Japanese / Sushi restaurant is supposed to be. So far, in 30 + years, I have not had better in Pittsburgh. They adhere to the protocols for handing raw food the same as they do in Japan. I have had numerous marginal experiences in Pittsburgh in this category, whom I will not name here, but I want to stay positive. They don't focus on "fusion", their menu items are traditional. Handy Tip: If a restaurant is serving food from 5 different countries, It's unlikely to be great at any of them. The food here is fresh, and the staff is knowledgeable. They make many things in house like brewing the soy sauce, and making the ginger dressing (old school is the best school in this arena). Over the years I have happily had most everything on the menu.
