Used to be a good 9-hole course when it was rock-up-and-play, with a good mix of par 3s and 4s. With it now being par 3s only and having to book I'm less tempted to play it, especially as I can play some 18-hole courses for a lower price (if I make use of their Twilight Golf offers).

9-hole course - 5 par 4s, 4 par 3s - with tight fairways. Decent price, especially if playing after 2pm, and pro shop staff are friendly and helpful. Rock-up start is great as you don't have to commit to a time or pay in advance (though when it's busy I imagine there's significant queues).

That's the extent of the positives. The course isn't very well maintained: fairway grass is longish, tee areas are in very bad condition. When I was there two of the holes didn't have any tee areas! Well, they did, but they were some sort of synthetic mat that was impossible to push a tee into so I had to resort to teeing up from immediately in front of the nominal tee area.

In addition, for some reason they insist on having the sprinklers going with people on the course. Spent a large part of a round dodging them and had the misfortune of being drenched by one when it suddenly opened up on my while I was putting. Absurdly bad management and quite annoying.

The only thing this course has going for it is that it is rock-up-and-play. If you're looking for a quick 9/10 holes there's a few nearby 18-hole courses where you can do that, with a booking, for the same, or even less, cost than Castlecove.

Only time you want to come here is when you make a last-minute decision to play and can't get on at one of those courses.
Great place for conferences. Large hall with several smaller rooms for break-out sessions and the like. Near public transport - St Leonards station is close and the new Metro station will be across the road. On bus routes too.
