My mother stayed at the Dunfield on the Assisted Living Floor from mid Jan - early April 2012. We discovered that the staff left her alone, fallen on the floor of her room for 4 hours before anyone noticed. Our private caregiver found her. My mother was also placed in a right side accessible unit when she was had right side neglect from a stroke. Which means, she needed a left side accessible unit. Add to this situation, my mother was asked to leave the dining room b/c the residents were complaining that she needed help with eating. ( as in, they did not want her caregiver to help her….) So…flash forward to Tuesday June 20th. My husband sits on a bench on the lawn outside the building to read his emails on his phone during his lunch break. He works on Eglinton Ave. A few minutes later, staff member came out and told him to leave as “the residents were complaining.” Colonialism is not dead in this place. I am disgusted to learn that nothing has changed. Do not send your family members here. its costs the same to hire privately and keep your loved one at home. Don’t let the fancy chandeliers and grand piano persuade you.
