Oyster Oyster

I was so excited that I was able to snag a reservation at Oyster Oyster home to James Beard Chef of the Year for 2023 and Michelin star restaurant. If you a devoted meat eater, you should come and see what great vegetarian cuisine can be. The restaurant is small with great staff who are incredibly knowledgeable. Do get the wine pairing and if you're a lightweight like my friend and I, they'll let you split a pairing. The food was revelatory and delicious and the pairings were spot on. Terrific meal that I truly enjoyed! Def recommend!
Excellent New York state park that has great views and the lighthouse museum. You pay for pairing which is also good for Camp Hero so keep the receipt. The lighthouse and museum are just across the road from the parking lot. There are many trails in the combined park areas so a good place for a hike if that's of interest. Great way to get away from the Hamptons.
The Montauk Point Lighthouse Museum is a fun place to visit. Lots of historical displays and history about the point, the lighthouse, and the Fresnel lenses. Also the climb up into the lighthouse is well worth it but you have to be steady on your feet and be able to follow their directions about going up and down the stairs since it's a tight fit. View is gorgeous but it's one person at a time. Great visit and world def recommend.
JFK has a lot of flights that go through it but if your flight is canceled you better settle in for a long wait or hit the rental car desk as soon as you can to get out of there. The airline agents are unfriendly and we had to accost the folks at the ticket desk just to get service. They were just joking around otherwise. The rental car situation is also sad since they seem out early and often and the surrounding hotels book quickly if you're stuck. Stores and restaurants are as you would find at any other airport and it takes a very long walk to get from gates to the trains. Pray to the gods of you have to fly through or to JFK.
Whiskey Kitchen

Whiskey Kitchen has a great reputation and somehow I just haven't been able to get around to reading here. Glad that I finally got a chance. The beverage program is tight and the cocktails are great. Food is good but not in the same league as their beverages which are very creative. The space has great ambience and I like the industrial design that feels like a warehouse or hangar. Indeed there are garage doors into the patio. Service was fine but nothing special. Overall good but not excellent and a good neighborhood hangout.
