Kangaroo Statue
2018 May 28
This statue of a Kangaroo is located on the hill at the Western end of Steinton Street. See if you can find it.

The statue was was commissioned by one of the fathers of Manly , Henry Gilbert Smith, and was sculpted by Peter Pickering in 1856

There are some who say this statue was the inspiration for the book Kangaroo, which was written by D H Lawrence in the early 1920’s after a trip by tram from Manly to Collaroy along Pittwater Road.
