The people who work here are very nice and give you lots of info about Chester French’s career; you can tour his studio and there is an exhibition gallery and gardens!
This is not a NYC Park. It is managed by NYC DEP. Not open to the public. NYC DEP is restoring the natural landscape and cleaning out the stream that runs through the property. The property was once part of a very large farm owned by the Barnes family that stretched all the way to Woodland Beach.
Lots of refuse on beach! A disgrace!
Lord Stirling’s house was torn down, like so many other important Revolutionary War houses!
You have to make an appointment to use the archives and library.
