On checking in the staff member advised identification had to be provided for the reason that NRMA Sydney Lakeside Holiday Park shelters victims of domestic violence. We have stayed here before but this is the first time the reason for identification has been mentioned. While not ideal to broadcast this here, fellow guests equally deserve to be aware this is the case. The owners are showing a severe lack of respect to guests by not being transparent about these circumstances. Guests should be advised at the time of booking that this is the case, thereby allowing them to make an informed decision as to whether they are happy to assume the risk of possibly exposing themselves to potentially violent situations if interactions occur with park intruders. Naturally, this risk could be extreme. Having said that, it is a nonsense that identification has to be provided by guests for this reason as there is no security in place to stop intruders simply walking in from the foreshore.
