Do NOT move to Rivers Edge. It is genuinely the worst place I have ever lived in Columbia.
The problems began on move in day. I signed a lease for a 2 bedroom where I wasn't assigned a roommate yet. I move into my unit and there's a girl and her boyfriend moving into my assigned bed space - as a young woman I did not feel safe living with a random man. Long story short, I had to wait until about 6pm (original move in time was 11:30am) to start actually moving into a completely different building and unit. Upon moving in, the AC was not working (and was not fixed for an entire month - loved spending the hottest part of the summer in Columbia with no AC at all). Also upon move in, the front door lock was broken to where my roommate and I couldn't lock from the outside, no water pressure in the kitchen sink at all, no hot water in bathrooms, no internet, dryer did not work, and maintenance tools were left in our dryer. Few days after move in we had a leak from the ceiling which left a hole. This issue was fixed in October, almost two months after we submitted a maintenance request. We honestly had about every maintenance issue you could think of but were told they were only tending to "emergencies". Sorry, I thought that the front door to an apartment of two young girls not locking was an emergency but I guess not! I understand these student complexes do all cleaning and renovations for new move in within a short time span during the summer, but Rivers Edge was just completely unprepared. How can you have this many issues just in one unit? One that was supposedly recently renovated and "VIP"?
In October, our pipe under the kitchen sink burst and we found mold. I cleaned it the best I could, since the incident happened after office hours and the "emergency" maintenance phone number is the same as the regular office number. Days later when maintenance shows up I tell him what happened and he says "well you fixed it there's nothing for me to do". In October our AC went out completely. They installed a window unit which only helped the living room - my bedroom was a constant 78 degrees.
In January there was yet another problem with the AC unit. It started making a really loud knocking noise that was shaking the living room and bedroom walls. It was so loud to the point I couldn't sleep. I called the office at least ten times personally, roommate called, boyfriend called, my parents called multiple times, submitted multiple service requests, emailed the front office with videos and photos, emailed the parent company, my father even went to the office in person to complain. It is June, a month out from the end of my lease, and nobody has actually fixed the noise. The AC unit is shaking violently and making it uncomfortable to live in my own apartment they don't seem to think it is an issue worth fixing.
Good luck to anybody who moves in here. They do not give a damn about the residents. Communication is terrible within the leasing office. If you send an email, expect to be ignored. But God forbid they don't get their rent money on time. Received a notice on June 2nd that my rent was late due to an issue on their end, and now they've taken out the rent from my account twice. Maintenance staff takes forever and a day to respond to anything and often times never actually fix anything. I have genuinely never been so frustrated with an apartment complex in my life. I have never had this many issues anywhere else. Rivers Edge is such a disappointment, I had really high hopes.

UPDATE: My AC has been out for the entire month of June and July. I submitted probably about 10 service requests and called and emailed. My bedroom is constantly 80 degrees. They finally checked it on JULY 10 and informed me that the unit is broken and needs replaced, which is what I have been telling them for a month. They leave me a voicemail saying it is scheduled to be replaced next week, the week of JULY 15 when my lease ends JULY 25. This management team/company is absolutely ENRAGING and PATHETIC. They only care about money.
