The park is one of the best in the area with the exception that trails can be blocked by falling trees and the grass tends to get too high during the summer. A little maintenance by the NPS and this does up to 5 stars, especially with the addition of interpretive signs a couple of years ago.
As most reviewers have noted, it’s a nice little park with a clay kitty-litter base, friendly dogs, respectful owners, and street parking. The negatives are the outer gate that doesn’t latch properly and the lack of poop bags in any of the dispensers. That just gives some folks a ready excuse not to pick up after their dog, especially if they frequent parks that always provide them.
The network of trails here is fabulous! Bring your binoculars if you want to watch the wildlife, particularly the variety of birds. Bring appropriate footwear if it’s rained in the last week or so because parts of the trail(s) get wet. Bring your bread crumbs if you have a bad sense of directions because you can get lost!
