Amazing Oasis in a beautiful park. This is a great place to visit and feel like you were transported right to Japan. It is a very relaxing place for a stroll. The garden is not huge though. It took us about 45 minutes to see the whole garden. They have beautiful water features and a fun bridge to climb up and over. It is a great exemplar of various Japanese garden styles. Admission is $14 for adults although there are discounts for students, children, and San Francisco residents get in for free.
Why hey dessert someplace that isn't known for it? Gross solves that for you. They do dessert really well and I would recommend stopping here after dinner. The service is excellent, it really makes a difference. If you have multiple people in your party, I would recommend getting a trio to share. The blueberry moose, pistachio financier, and chocolate cake are excellent. I particularly liked the combination of pistachio and rose cream. They have cheese, charcuterie, and after dinner drinks too.
A little slice of Paris right in New York City. This is a great little bakery to have sweet or savory French pastries. This would have been a five-star experience but the croissant I had was doey, not flaky. Interestingly, the pain a chocolate was superb. They also have tea and coffee-based beverages. They have delicious looking desserts but I was not able to try them on this trip.
Great local place to get Ramen. The lunch special is great value. I enjoyed the Tonkatsu. The salad and pork belly Don were great too. They're aren't that many seats but the ambiance is very nice. Clean too and the service is friendly and attentive.
This is a great place to walk, enjoy nature, and see New York's industrial past. The old locks have given way to nature. There is lots to see on this bucolic walk including frogs, turtles, birds, muskrats, and lots of other flora and fauna. Great place to hike, walk, or walk your dog. This lot has easy access to whichever direction you want to want including the Empire Trail.
