Decent ski hill for beginners and families. The terrain is primarily short greens and a couple blues. For others, it leaves a bit to be desired and fell short in a couple areas.

The cafeteria was the worst ski lodge experience I’ve had in a long time (by far). Spent $6 for a soggy, cold slice of pizza which tasted days old. The woman at the register (manager/owner?) ignored the line of customers and went on a very extreme rant to another worker about how bad of a job the employees were doing, along with other business and personal matters. She was extremely unprofessional and really created a hostile atmosphere - I feel bad for the employees that work for/with her. The entire line of customers were visibly uncomfortable. Lift, bar, and ticket staff were very friendly. The guys at the Apex Chair had especially great attitudes!

Snow guns were not running even though the majority of the blue trails were closed for lack of snow and the temps were perfect for snowmaking. Grooming wasn’t bad but could be improved - there were some dangerous contours on some of the trails that could have been smoothed out with more regular grooming. Not a huge deal, but certainly unusual for beginner terrain.

I’m a big supporter of independent resorts and an indie passholder. Compared to other independent resorts, West Mountain fell short on terrain selection, snowmaking, and their cafeteria. I would visit again to see if its the norm, but some aspects of the resort seemed mismanaged.
