Arranged a birthday lunch for my wife and decided to celebrate it in this Japanese fine dinning restaurant. We were arranged to sit at the corner of one of their U shape tables with chef in the centre.

After the food was served, we saw a tiny cockroach, in about 2cm size, walk up on to the table. The waiter was not surprised at all and the chef quickly killed the cockroach into ash… I was impressed that the waiters were not surprised at all.

We were relocated to another table and the dishes where the cockroach may have walked by were served with new one. The waiter didn’t offer to replace with whole set.

We were surprised that the manager of the restaurant was not being notified and we didn’t intend to leave immediately at that time (but we should), and just tried to finish our lunch quickly and paid. No remedies or sorry were given by the restaurant. The birthday lunch was completely spoiled in any case…

The only thing I can say was, having a tiny cockroach means the restaurant is “clean” and normal in the dining area, cause you may even find rats or bigger cockroaches if the restaurant is very dirty in Whampoa.
