Bad experience at the ED.
Presentation with my daughter suffering pain and illness at approximately 9pm. Main existing diagnosis hodgkin's lymphoma/chemotherapy. She was given a triage caterory 2 card from Peter Mac for any such reason that she had to present to ED anywhere.

Waited a short time on triaging and was taken in for an ECG. Sent back to the dirty, cold, extremely uncomfortable waiting room. ECG results were given pretty quickly and cleared of any heart problems.
Waiting for hours and hours.... Daughter's pain level was high. I approached the head triage nurse several times as a concerned mother. The nurse was blunt in her retorts. The second time, she responded and very rudely said ..."What do you want me to do about it? She has had an ECG and has been triaged!"

Place wasn't overly busy late into the night. One waiting patient had an earache and was attended, and there were many other examples.

A disgusting ED and as bad as the nursing triage staff on that night. Security there all the time, obviously, to keep people in line.
She was seen eventually at about 4.30 a.m., with only 2 or 3 people left in the waiting room.

It didn't take the ED Dr long after bloods taken to have her admitted to the RWH and was there for 2 nights and then transferred to Peter Mac's where she spent another 3 nights.
My point. How dare they make an already very sick, very susceptible girl sit and lay around a filthy, germ ridden ED and obviously in so much pain that she couldn't sit but had to lay on filthy hard plastic chairs while watching others get seen, treated and leave.
Such an unpleasant experience and not able as a parent to do anything due to the threat of security. It felt like we were in a different country.
Totally shocked by the lack of empathy for a cancer patient and their total disregard of her category 2 status.
It's probably not usual to review a hospital but it is what it is
