There’s no shortage of ice cream shops around Brunswick and Smith Streets and I intend on trying them all. At C9 I had a salted caramel thickshake for $13 and while it was nicely served in a hipster jar, there was nothing to really set it apart from the competition.

Best beef noodles I’ve had in a long time. It’s an unassuming little shop on an alley in Southport. Most of the signs and menus are in Chinese and the man that makes the food also serves you. It was delicious, my only qualm was the 50 cent charge to pay by card. lol
Messina is consistent and well known around Melbourne (and even Australia?) for its gelati. Had a triple scoop cup for $10 and it was spot on. I also had an espresso for $2 which has to be the cheapest coffee in Melbourne? And it was a bloody good drop with a nice crema.

I was craving duck and this place doesn’t close between lunch and dinner. Family run with the kids studying in the restaurant. It hit the spot, cos it had been a while!
Pleasantly surprised by our dinner here. On arrival, the place was empty which always sounds alarm bells for me. The samosas were a huge size for starters. Our butter chicken was delicious and had the smoky flavour from the tandoor and the naan hit the spot. They sell mango lassi by the jug which was a little thick and the cynic in me suspects it was perhaps a powdered mix?
