Salon Proust

My visit to Salon Proust at the Ritz Paris was a truly memorable experience. The ambiance was both beautiful and comfortable, making me feel right at home in its elegant surroundings. The high tea service, exclusively focusing on sweet treats, was a delightful indulgence, leaving me in a happy sugar overload. While I found the array of pastries excellent, they were perhaps more ordinary than expected for the Ritz’s renowned reputation. Despite this, the overall experience was enhanced by the warm and professional service, making it a special and enjoyable visit for me.
A cheap and cheerful place that’s bustling with locals. I enjoyed the moonlight hor fun though the low shu fun was much better.

I came on a Tuesday at 7pm and while the place was packed, we were seated quite quickly and received our food pretty fast. The octopus was sold out by the time we wanted to order, but the beansprouts, an Ipoh specialty were wonderful.

An excellent South Indian paratha spot that does not water down its food, or identity for the French market. This naturally means it caters to the South Indian diaspora or people who are familiar with the culinary culture and modus operandi of such eateries. I.e., if you come here expecting the service of a bistro or even a cafe, you’d be sorely disappointed. This spot is a slice of south India in the most charming way. The parottas are freshly made and the mutton curry was excellent. Ask for less spicy options if your dining companions can’t take spicy food. I’ll be back for sure.

I’ve been here many times in many different settings and the pho is consistently good. Is this the best pho place in Paris? I can’t say for certain as I haven’t tried many places since I’m perfectly happy with this one. The place gets really crowded at dinner and you can expect a queue and brusque service when it’s packed. But on weekend afternoons when it’s slower, the outdoor terrace is lovely, as are the owners who have time to chat with you. Bear in mind that it’s Michelin award is a Bib Gourmand which denotes delicious food and value for money, and not a michelin star, and it certainly deserves this wonderful accolade.
