Visiting Adelaide a number of times in 2024 due to a decision to undertake a process and treatment of Ketamine for a decades long encumbrance. This I have had a new outlook on Adelaide. Rundle Mall is the main thoroughfare in which runs the blood stream of Adelaide’s entrepreneurial juice. All the brands and all the franchises you can imagine. It doesn’t distract from the other main Adelaide consumer thoroughfare which is Hindley Street where you will find great food and street city action for adults. Though Rundle Mall is a main circuit cable running the length of a number of cross streets since blocked off in the decades that the Mall has been in action. An endless stream of shopping, food and drinking that is for the most part very busy and tight fitting with thousands of shoppers and wanderers passing out their time on planet earth. There are a number of statues and art pieces strung out along the lengths of the mall that depending on your artistic bent bring something of a ‘cultural’ influence to the mall. I walked the length and short breadth of the mall whilst in a two week sojourn in Adelaide. More than simply a consumerist mall it is a centre or if you wish the central casting of Adelaide’s lively characters.
If you love your deep fried chips thick and crusty on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, covered in chicken salt and vinegar this is the place to go. Burgers are good as well. They have a small and tasty range of fresh seafood and the salads are awesome. Their Greek Salad is so good.X prices are reasonable and the trade is constant with passengers from Meadowbank Station stopping by to keep the big boys busy cooking. They’ve introduced a pizza selection but I haven’t yet gone there. Still, the use of all those yummy ingredients that promote thick arteries is worth a possible heart attack. Busy part of Meadowbank and if you’re driving you might have to go around a few times waiting for a rare parking spot. Chips, burgers, coffee, pizza, salads and seafood. You could live there and be happy for life.
A couple of years ago they did a work over of the Midway Shopping Centre and it turned out well. Allowing for more light and seating space with an eye for taking the 1970s vibe and with a hint of aesthetic brilliance the facelift popped the grime and time like an old Hollywood starlet breaking new ground with old style charm. I stop here after school drop to grab a well made rich coffee from Midway Cakes then sit down and enjoy my nicotine infused vape and plan my day. After soccer training I have been known to try out Spinnin’ Chicken, though I tend to get the Cheeseburger and get a large chips for the boys. Staff friendly and have that old style small business confidence that in my view create the backbone of the community. Chemist for your drug needs! The Meat Boutique draws me in because I love meat, butcher meat costs more because the quality of the meat is worth every dollar. They recently moved the post office into the old convenience store and transformed it into a larger newsagent and Australia Post outlet. Midway Shopping Centre also opened an IGA, which was a long time coming and good to see local shops supporting local families and families supporting local small businesses. Great spot to shop, eat and hang.
