Beautiful walk through part of the reserve heading upto sgor Gaoith, well worth investigating more
Started from Auchlean car park, heading for Mullach Clach à Bhlàir,couple of stream crossings, great trail for about 8k before you start your climb up the track, which is steep in parts, winding its way up to the plateau, following the track turning off to the right which takes you straight to the Cairn.Very open,be prepared.
A Monday morning hike .
Started off on the bottom track to Ben Machdui, well defined track, weather very changeable, clear, then very misty, that fine rain that goes through everything. The cairns are a godsend in these conditions, lost the tracks a couple of times, reaching the summit, quick turnround headed back over the boulder fields and headed for Cairn Lochan,Stob Coire, Cairn Gorm very windy, very wet track was good , Reaching Cairn Gorm, quickly moved onto trail to ptarmigan, then back down to ski centre.
coffee time and a chance to chill before heading home
