Exceptional dining experience. I did the “Rue Experience,” a 5-course meal with wine pairings. The pasta appetizer, the grilled scallops, the Halibut and the venison were impeccable. The service was attentive and knowledgeable without any pretense, and the atmosphere was intimate and personalized.
Pretty good burger spot; kind of pricey for burgers, but I’d imagine it would be a cool spot to catch a Bears game. Our server was really friendly and attentive. I did the Bison build-a-burger, and it was pretty good. They also have gluten free buns, for anyone who needs a gf menu.
Had a nice meal here. The scallops were good and the service up at the bar from the bartenders was great. My only nitpick is the risotto that was served with my dish — they certainly serve you a lot of it, but it was pretty watery and bland (mostly tasted lime the stock it was cooked in). So the verdict is good, but maybe not great.
Plates is simply outstanding. This farm-to-table, chef-run spot is unpretentious and has a real seasonal menu. The charcuterie board, seared monkfish, fresh basil fettuccine and panna cotta were all to die for. Great cocktails and excellent wine pairings. The bartenders also were awesome. This has to be one of Raleigh’s best kept secrets.
