Truly wonderful staff, from triage to transporters to nurses, NPs, doctors and specialists. An unexpected emergency brought me here and everyone was so kind, compassionate, and accommodating.

With extra special thanks to Patricia in triage; nurses/NPs Maureen, Jonathan, and Dana; transporters George and Luis; to Ahmad and Natalia at imaging, and those whose names I’ve unfortunately already forgotten. Every worker here is so much appreciated, and everyone prioritizes kindness.

The only gripe is an abrupt doctor with a bit of an unpleasant bedside manner who used a word that no patient should hear without proper testing first.

It is a busy place, with lots of noises and people cracking out, but it’s an ER— so I don’t know what anyone is expecting. This isn’t the Four Seasons (hotel, not Giuliani’s auto shop).

Thank you to the amazing staff. If you see this, Patricia, thank you for the hug— you’re so appreciated.
Heartland Bagels 2

Although the bagels still taste nice, they’ve gone down considerably in size. Further, check out the barely-there butter. A good bagel with butter should have at least double that they did here.

Bagel itself is cooked perfectly and is nice and crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I’d personally add a bit more salt to the dough but whatever. That’s what the butter is for — oh, wait.

Although service is always consistently good, I’m gonna stick to Pio’s in Woodrow Plaza.
Village Greens Park

Beautiful, mostly-serene park, which is decently upheld by the Park Villages Association. They do well in clearing the snow during winter, always ensuring safe pathways. My main gripe is the people in the neighborhood who throw dirty diapers and other myriad bits of garbage on the ground when there are bins at least every 30-50 feet. Stop being gross.
This was a fun visit! You have to climb your way through a hole in a fence and battle the uphill walk before you get to the abandoned, beautifully-graffitid old TB buildings at Willowbrook. Not really safe to go inside the buildings and they are also freezing. But well worth the visit for the history and the photography. Just be careful where you step!
Mount Loretto State Forest has been beautifully renovated in recent times. It’s a great place to go and forget that you’re in Staten Island. Wonderful for dogs as well.
