The staff here are obviously protective X compassionate to the animals housed here. The volunteer process is extremely thorough as well, with highly educational modules. Their cat areas are cozy and make interacting with/observing them easy.
It's difficult to walk through the kennel, but the dogs, though stressed, are clearly cared for. Setting up a meet and greet with the dogs is easy; there is a room specifically for this purpose with a bench, a chair and a sink (and treats).
We had a great time this year for the National Day of Mourning taking one of the pups out to the run to play in the snow.
We highly recommend the Spokane humane Society as a place to give back to these innocent animals who are sadly and too often subject to our whims.

Tiny hillside switchbacked network of garden paths. Pretty overgrown in May, but in a Secret Garden kind of way and very pretty.
Loud traffic from all angles.
Parking tight on the dead end street, I parked at the top of the hill and walked down.

This area offers a peaceful space to wander and wasn't too heavily trafficked when I visited in March and May.
Soft, richly aromatic Earth and lots of tree cover. Even on a cool day a light jacket was sufficient.
Be aware of small animals as well as large.
Lots of small beings in the trails, so watch your step.
Rewarding sidetracks for respectful hikers to explore.
