Recently moved our family to Royal Oak and we wanted to learn the history of Royal Oak so we set out to visit the Royal Oak Historical Society Museum! They are open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 1pm to 4pm. This museum is FREE, however it runs on donations. We were greeted by Libby upon our arrival and she was absolutely pleasant. We were then introduced to Mike, who was a wealth of information on many aspects of the museum. He had wonderful insights and stories to share. He gave us a tour and told us about his time at the fire station prior to it becoming the museum. I enjoyed the experience and all that the museum has to offer. I definitely recommend a visit! They do have guest speakers and they also change up some of their exhibit. Please visit, share, enjoy and donate to the museum as it will keep the history of Royal Oak alive!
I come here only for the Whole Foods. The area is nice. The parking lot is nice.
We live in South Irving so it's nice to make a trek to the 'amenities' offered to the northerners. There's the bigger, nicer Kroger, the bigger nicer Target, Daiso, Michael's, Half Price Books, ROSS...all the stores! You can get so much done here in this one shopping center alone!
Looking forward to planning a visit here. Called the number via their website regarding summer visits and was told they currently don't have am exhibit but their hours during the Fall/Spring are M-F 10am-5pm and Sat 12pm-5pm.
We visited the Irving Heritage House today and it was lovely. There is so much history in this house. The docent lead tours are FREE and done on the FIRST SUNDAY of every month. Upon entering, we were greeted by a wonderful group of people and lead from the parlor/ living room / sitting area, to the dining area, kitchen, bedrooms and circled back around to the sun room and music room. We then visited Mary's Playhouse in the back which was originally a chicken coop. The Heritage House is the first house in Irving and the first to have indoor plumbing, y'all. It also had a basement, which we did not tour but it's quite interesting. Just a word of caution, this house is HOT! Bring a hand fan, a personal fan, SOMETHING to keep yourself cool. They did provide water, lemonade and cookies. I highly recommend visiting this little gem!
