I had the unfortunate displeasure of having my boat in “dry-dock” at Liberty Harbor Marina from May 1 through August 26th. I was held a virtual “prisoner” at this marina due to unfortunate dealings with various contractors who did not fulfill their promises to complete work on my vessel in a timely manner. Sadly, Liberty Harbor Marina clearly took advantage of this situation!
I paid Liberty Harbor Marina faithfully each and every month IN ADVANCE, for a total of 4 months dry storage (I was paid through August 31). My boat was launched on August 24; I was paid through August 31. Yet the marina had the audacity to charge me for daily in-water dockage fees, pending a mechanic’s necessary check of the vessel prior to making the ten hour trip back to my home.
Although “Lauren” (one of the managers) assured me over the phone that I would not be charged the additional fee; she effectively lied to me by charging my mechanic the fee; which I subsequently had to reimburse to him. This woman is rude, “snotty”, a “phony”….and simply lied to me!
The marina’s actions were further exacerbated by the fact that Lauren ordered my boat chained to the dock.....as if I were a common scofflaw who did not pay his bill... AFTER FOUR MONTHS FULL PAYMENT IN ADVANCE!
Subsequent to this distasteful experience I reached out to Lauren several times via email; she never demonstrated the common courtesy and decency to respond!
I am suffering from a chronic illness, i.e., virtually helpless; therefore unable to remove the boat from the marina without relying on someone else to do so. What Liberty Landing did by extorting this money from me is a disgrace! Shame on Lauren and Mr Mocco for their mercenary attitude, and for their total lack of compassion!
While in dry-dock at Liberty Harbor, many valuables were stolen from my boat. I wonder where the marina’s security officers were; whose job is to oversee the boat yard? The marina was suppose to provide 24-hour surveillance; part of the exorbitant monthly fee I was being charged. I’m beginning to wonder if the theft was perhaps an “inside job”…..since early on a marina contractor assigned an “unsavory” individual to work to my boat; someone who should never have been allowed to work in the yard in the first place. In most probability it was this individual was involved in the theft of my property. In addition, this person caused considerable damage to my engine and to the interior of my boat.
In over 45 years experience with marinas and boat yards (as both professional 100-ton captain and private boat owner), Liberty Harbor Marina holds the title (bar none) of being THE WORST MARINA I HAVE EVER DONE BUSINESS WITH!
Again, shame on Lauren and Mr Mocco for their mercenary attitude, and for their total lack of compassion and decency towards a senior citizen on a fixed income!
