It's not a bad trail if you live in Orange County. For much of the year, there is not much living vegetation here. So the landscape is barren, but some of the views from Gilman Peak are very good. There is plenty of poison oak near the valley area, so watch out! After the rains, once the mud hardens up, the landscape is transformed into green lushness and yellow blossoms of the wild mustard. You will see coyote scat, but almost never a coyote. Also, there are lots of hawks overhead. I have seen a couple of rattlesnakes, too.There are quite a few trails within the park, some accessible by bike, others, not. This area is not nearly as beautiful as the San Gabriels, but it's a lot closer for those who live in Orange County.

I love the food at this place! I have to drive all the way from Fullerton, but it's worth it. Wonderfully spiced cajun Vietnamese fusion food, great chowder, and shellfish! Also, they have a good selection of tap microbrews with good prices on pitchers.
