Abbey Bar
2023 Nov 29
One of the best spots to grab a beer in the area! The bar is fairly dark, but has a nice charm to it, and they always have at least a couple brews on tap or in the cooler that are worth drinking! For example, my photo is of a glass of Bruery - Black Tuesday, a beer I’ve always wanted to try but have never seen on draft in FL in over a decade, but yet here it is randomly on draft at Abbey with no promotion or fanfare, and that’s fine, because it means more for me =]
Decent banh mi. Ordered the original and the grilled pork. I ordered extra mayo on both but I would say I barely got any mayo at all (look at the pic, do you see extra mayo? If someone orders “extra mayo” the mayo should be visible). The original tasted the best, though I would have liked a lil more meat to cover up more of the bread. The grilled pork was fairly chewy and didn’t taste super fresh. Bread was not really the norm for banh mi either, but I still ultimately finished them both and was satisfied.
Taste of Soul
2023 Sep 23
I honestly can’t say enough good things about this delicious soul food restaurant! I have been several times over the past month, and my meal has impressed me every time!

Highlights: Epic oxtails (huge, tender, meaty), super cheesy baked mac & cheese, some of the best potato salad I’ve ever had, fork tender delicious smothered pork chops, amazing chicken livers!

Lowlight: The cornbread is a bit dry/crumbly for my tastes, but it still tastes good.
Urban Brick
2023 Jul 25
Urban Brick is a pretty solid, but not quite top tier Italian joint. I enjoyed my meal, but there was nothing about it that will cause me to return anytime soon. The calzone certainly has an odd appearance, and you can see that the edge of it is basically a giant footlong breadstick lol. I would say they used far too much dough and didn’t let it bake long enough. At least it was full of good tasting cheese (though could have used more ricotta)! The meatballs were good too, but in no way memorable.
I had one of the most enjoyable lunches here that I’ve had in recent memory! Not only was the view of the water lovely, but the food was outstanding! They had the fried oysters as a special, which were perfectly cooked and tasted very fresh, and the fried shrimp and grits was amazing! Good sized delicious shrimp (I like that they removed the tail shell too), creamy cheesy grits and the cajun gravy with andouille was next level!
