Being inside of an outlet mall, it was fairly busy. Looked mostly stocked with all clothing. Didn't end up finding anything to buy for myself but my sister bought a flannel shirt.
We went here on a field trip for my 4th grader. The double-decker bus tour around historic Beaufort was great with the narrator telling the stories of the battles and how the houses were built and who lived in them. After the bus we were able to walk around the site to four different stations. 1st station was candle making, which told who in the household made the candles, how many were made per day and actually made our own to take home. The second station was wooden shingle making, which told the age a person started and how long to become a master shingle maker, showed the sawing of a log, splitting of a log, carving the shingle and then nailing the shingle to the "roof". There is more to the story, but you'll have to visit to find out yourself.
This place is amazing. When you get to the top of the needle, you get a 360⁰ view of everything around you. Another cool thing is that inside the top of the tower there are destinations to show you what is in the direction, and in every direction you are looking. Below those are plaques with history stories about the falls. When you go out onto the tower observation area, you can feel the wind and see the falls clearly being up that high. The only bad thing to say is the disgusting trash piles on the outside ledge, on the other side of the fence. People are rude and disgusting to not just throw their trash away properly.
Amazing, amazing views! Will definitely return. Doesn't matter day or night, it is a place you must visit. During the day, it is the beauty of the falls, and at night, they transform into light spectacles, changing colors and accenting the water in complete darkness!
This place is amazing! My daughter is going on her 3rd year of attending and moved from trying classes to an actual competing team this year at 6 years old. They staff is helpful and friendly and very knowledgeable.
