Beautiful church, perhaps even more so than the Cathedral. The statue of the Blessed Mother above and behind the main altar is stunning. The blend of architectural styles is quite unique and beautiful. We were there for the Saturday Vigil Mass (4:00) and got there early. At 3:15 there was a tour (about 30 minutes) that was quite informative. I was surprised to notice that the Stations of the Cross are not found in the traditional way, but present above the windows. The windows too, tell the stories of various Jesuit saints, as the parish is run by them (and has been for quite sometime). The story behind the church is quite fascinating, and in some ways, quite miraculous that it is still standing.
It was overcast during our visit, which is unfortunate as it was a darker space without the light coming through the windows. The windows, while not my favor it’s style are somewhat confusing, as the story they tell is not always clear, but it is a lovely place for prayer. There is parking across the street which is great.
Beautiful parish. Stopped here for Mass one Sunday.
The old church is beautiful. The priests here often have great homilies. A nice sized fair every year. The choir was quite nice too.
Beautiful Cathedral. I had the pleasure of attending an ordination Mass here. A lovely place to pray.
