Overall nice museum have been her about once a year for past 10 years, and will go back. Downfall: we wish there were more kids or hands on exhibits. When they remodeled, they took away the majority of the kids’ stuff. Love the addition of the era wardrobe with the cars. The Euclid Carousel is a fun classic and enjoyable experience. Nice that we get to go in the mansion too.
This used to be my favorite museum in Cleveland until they started renovating. As of 1/3/24 about 80% of exhibits are closed. The areas that are open include the child zone for under 7 years old and the outdoor live animal exhibits. The cafeteria, gift shop, upper level art gallery (very small), lower level and main foyer have all been renovated with a handful of things to see in the foyer/great hall to see. Admission is still full price, so to off-set the lack of experience, they allow you to attend a 3D show in auditorium (remodeled) and planetarium both for free. Their anticipated opening date for the main part of the museum (pretty much all other exhibits) is Dec 2024! I’d suggest to not go until after then. …can’t wait to update my review in spring of 2025.
We have been there many times over the years. Staff are friendly. They do small things to liven up the gardens from year to year. This year they have some blown glass pieces incorporated in couple areas. Our favorite was the tree houses they had 7(?) years ago, and there is still one that they kept. The indoor kids area connects to the main building and the butterfly jungle garden; it has been remodeled and expanded so it is engaging for kids 1-12 years of age. My favorite is when they have a staff bring a chameleon out, so we can get a close look! We went to the orchid special exhibit about 8 years ago and that was cool to see so many species. Will continue to go back.
Overall pretty good and would go back. Quick to be seated; no wait on Thursday night at 6:45pm. Friendly staff. Fast food service. Peel your own shrimp basket was seasoned and cooked well. Blackened Grouper was over cooked and dry. Fried Mahi Mahi Sandwich was tasty and cooked well. Strong pour on the alcoholic beverage. Key Lime Pie slice was the best we had all week while on vaca!! Carrot cake slice was like 20% of a cake, a ridiculous portion size, but tasty. We requested to be seated by the railing so we could view the wildlife and boats better. Gift shop had local, useful and usual souvenirs.
Overall good service & would go back. Service was friendly and fast to get seated on weekday for dinner. Got the seafood big tower & looked amazing. Critique is that appetizer (hush puppies) came out with entree (seafood tower). Big “oops” is that the Lobster claws were not fully cooked!! We sent the claws back to the kitchen to prove it was slimy and undercooked and they brought us a bowl of chopped up lobster pieces to replace the claws. All other seafood was perfect! They offer inside and outside seating. Nice view of the boats in the bay as you eat. Key Lime Pie was average.
