The building is terrific: the first brick Gehry I’ve seen. The cafe overlooks a little stream complete with ducks, and with the excellent 7-euro currywurst it’s a great place to relax for an hour. The art was terrible when I went — just videos that were more politics and religion than art — so make sure there’s a good exhibition before you go or, like me, you’ll be out within fifteen minutes.

I love old restaurants and hate gentrification so I really wanted to like this place. It’s impossible. The prices are okay but the food is not good. You can easily make better roast chicken or fried chicken at home. The chicken burger is absolutely horrible: it’s not a chicken breast but a weird, thin patty of dark meat pieces somehow stuck together and served almost raw.

Service is very friendly. Decor is depressing but they are closing to renovate soon. I hope the management uses this time to fix the recipes.
This is a quirky little store, a close relative of the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co. The store section is relatively small, with a few kits and miscellaneous parts for making your robots. There's definitely enough for gifting the engineering student in your life. The focus seems to be on teaching, though, with classes geared toward everyone from grade-schoolers to drunken bachelor parties.

I love this little store, the shopping equivalent of a mug of hot chocolate with mini-marshmallows. In the front are various Japanese-influenced gift items, like great odd stationery and TinTin notebooks. In the middle is a well-curated selection of vintage clothes for men and women at reasonable prices. In the back, behind the Vivienne Westwood socks (dirt cheap!), is a tiny neighborhood art gallery that's always showing interesting stuff. Clearly the owners have vision, and they're executing it very well.
