It's a bit painful. I've come here since the 90s and capitalism has made sure that the place has lost most of what made it unique. I loved it when the backlot was a market hall with fresh meats and fish and produce and food stalls and everything. Now it's just a -great but still just an- Edeka, a Lidl and a tiny Bauhaus. What's there is good for what it is, but it's just so little. What happened to ACom? What happened to Dänisches Bettenlager? What happened to Whitboy?!?
I used to love this place when it was still Forum Steglitz and the only shopping center on Schlossstraße. When the Hertie across the street became a rival mall it all kinda went to hell I'm afraid to say. The 4th star is mostly a matter of nostalgia, I'm afraid.
I quite enjoyed the local variety of bun which was seasoned with a fruitier dressing than what I'm used to. I don't know whether that's a regional difference in the original recipe or the German Interpretation but I quite enjoyed it anyway. The vegan duck has also been heavily recommended to me.
