I ended up interacting with almost every employee on this particular visit. I've been coming here for decades, and I moved out of the area a while back, so hadn't been by in years. It was good to see several of the employees still there and felt like home.
There's nothing amazing about Kittredge Park except that there's nothing amazing about Kittredge Park. If you're looking for a big lawn with a small playground, a few trees and a picnic table, but want to avoid the business of some of the more popular parks, I'm guessing you'll find some usable space here. No restroom options. Street parking only.
This is a grassy park with medium sized trees on the perimeter providing plenty of shade. There's very little traffic in the area lending to a quiet atmosphere. Many of the people who use the park are friendly and may engage strangers in conversation. Many walk their dogs here and there is a frequently used play area for children.
On the beautiful day I visited, my sister and niece (13) were with me. My niece enjoyed the play area with swings and the lack of goose waste was notable. It wasn't terribly busy and several other families were picnicking or playing tennis.
Denver is a cow town. Don't get me wrong, I love cow towns! But this parade is definitely a "cow town " parade, lol! This year, a significant number of participants looked enthused about being there and most of the performances seemed scaled back. There was at least one good band. It was a good family event, though. I didn't regret going.
