I had seen Stamatis mentioned on Reddit quite a bit as a staple Greek restaurant in Astoria, so we went and checked it out for lunch on a Sunday. The food was A+, and service was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend the octopus and filleted grilled fish, they are spectacularly prepared. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and you can get Figo across the street for dessert.
I can’t say enough about this hotel; they truly went above and beyond. My wife fractured her ankle on the curb literally right before we walked in. The staff were so accommodating, they immediately got ice and made us comfortable. They also offered to return the wheelchair we rented after we left the city, which was over a km away. The room and bathroom were nice and had a lovely warm color all throughout the hotel. It was also the most affordable option of the places we considered and I would definitely recommend it to friends.
An Uzbek friend recommended we try this place, so we made the trip out to Kensington. I can say without exaggerating that this place has the best Lula kebab I've had in the city. It's out of this world. It's a family run operation and they don't have a menu, but you can point to whatever you'd like in their display case. Everything we tried was excellent, and the prices can't be beat for the quality of food you are getting. Worth a trip if you're coming from other parts of the city.
