Came to Palomar hospital at 40 weeks pregnant with spotting and cramping. As a first time mom of course that was rise for concern. I had nurse Sonia, from the start her attitude was unprofessional haggling my husband for initially giving her my married last name as a posed to my maiden name (shown on my ID), insisting that “normally he wouldn’t be allowed to come in for giving the wrong name” although I was right there and explained the situation. And it didn’t end there, she talked about it for about 5 mins how he needs to learn what name to give the hospital. The unprofessionalism continued with her attitude throughout the visit making me feel like I shouldn’t have even made the trip to the hospital. She asked me, “are you spotting or bleeding?” I said spotting, and in a salty attitude she said “well then that’s normal.” Then continued to ask me more questions one of which if I was having contractions. Again I’m a first time mom so I don’t know what “real” contractions feel like so I continued to explain what I was feeling and all she had to say was “but are you having contractions?” Almost pressuring me to say no rather than explaining to me what I would be feeling. Her entire demeanor was just disgusting and just made me feel like I was over reacting. Before I left as I was getting my paperwork Sonia made it a point to repeat herself twice, to only return when I’m in “real labor”. The only reason I’m giving my experience 2 stars was because of midwife Michelle. She came in with a bubbly personality and helped me further understand what was going on. Such a shame that a beautiful hospital like this is full of sour nurses who hate their jobs.
