Perfect weather for a garden tour today. Many beautiful blooms, plants and trees. Was good to learn about the legacies left by former lieutenant-governors.

Comfort food and a healthfood shop, including fresh sandwiches; frozen and chilled vegan products, such as cheese, deli meats, hummus; canned and packaged goods; treats and chocolate. Delicious, decadent desserts! Love the Biscoff cheesecake, Oreo cake, cookies and savoury swirls. The Breakfast Burrito was good, served piping hot; and I liked the cheesy Quesadilla with guacamole. Milkshakes, burgers, toasties, nachos, mac-n-cheese. Also sells dog food, themed mugs and Hunt Saboteurs merchandise.
The visitor centre contains a good, small museum about the history and geology of the area (free, but donations welcome) and a gift shop, including interesting books and useful guides. A short distance away is a car park and Hiker Café. A paved pathway leads up to a viewpoint, a National Coastwatch station and beyond to the spit.
Sarehole Mill Museum

Tolkien fans will enjoy this location. It's an ancient mill, still (again) in working order. Inspiration for author JRR Tolkien. Wildlife and trees around the pond. Tours offered, best to book ahead. (First Saturday of the month, you can self-guide, reading the informative signs as you go.) Café and pizza (Wed-Sun, midday-3 pm). Enclosed and indoor seating. Moseley Bog is beside the mill, good for a walk.
Some of the exhibits are geared towards children; others not. The film about the battles provides interesting information, although it runs too long for children’s attention spans. Included in the entry fee is entry to Martello Tower 1, a bit of a walk away from the museum. I found the tower more interesting than the museum. At the tower, you’re given a screen and headphones, which convey the construction of the tower and the life of soldiers posted there.
