Las Ventas Bullring
2023 Jun 27
The historic bullring in Madrid is simply majestic. Looks like it was built yesterday. Granted that it is not the oldest in Spain, that distinction is assigned to Aranjuez which was built circa 1760. For the Bullring in Ventas you will find a plethora of activities that you can sign up for. Either show up in person or go online and book the tours. However, if you go towards the main entrance and choose to continue walking the perimeter towards the right, eventually, you will find the entrance to the museum. Once at the entrance you will pleasantly be surprised that it is free! The gift shop is accessible from the museum, and it allows you to pass by the chapel that all bullfighters for some final last prayers. The gift ship is a few feet away towards the right. Right before entering the gift shop you will find yourself inside the bullring, albeit in its corridor. The museum itself is quite a jewel as you will see numerous original paintings of what was used for the posters promoting the corresponding season. You will also find various matador suits, many decorated in all their splendor of some of the most recognized bullfighters in the world.
