This is a great trail to ride because it provides lots of tree cover so on hot days you’re not struggling there’s moderate elevation changes did you can handle with a regular bike or an electric bike. It takes you through cherry orchards, apple orchards, cornfields, asparagus fields in small towns, along the way to include Mears, Mi, Shelby,Mi. New Era, Mi. and then the next stop is Montague, Mi. The half way point is New Era, Mi. & a great place to stop at Country Dairy for lunch and some good ice cream. We’ve made this ride 12 or more times and is one of our favorites. The total distance is 20 miles from Hart, Mi to Montague, Mi. or 10 miles from Hart, Mi to Mew Era, Mi.
So depending on where your leaving from you can do either 20 miles or 40 miles what ever your up for, we have done both with our pedal assist electric bikes only because they have a distance of 45 miles.
Yes electric bikes are a life saver when your 80 YO but you still have to pedal or you don’t get those distances but it really helps when your going up hills along the way.

Wow it was just beautiful, the emerald green waters splashed on the shore & the white sand at the shore was easy to walk on. For me it brought back memories, when I was in the navy NAS Pensacola was where I was stationed & the changes we’ll from 1964 to 2023, 59 years of growth really made it look different. I’m 64 there was. Pavilion & a carousel, and now it’s high rise condominiums & houses for rent that go for 3K a week but it was nice to go back & see the changes.
Went to visit Fort Barrancas on the base what a surprise. A Bastion on the Bluffs
overlooking the entrance to Pensacola Bay. Fort Barrancas stands as a monument to the legacy of America’s early homeland defense. Built with 6 million bricks, on the backs of slaves with walls 4 feet thick and 20 feet high, Fort Barrancas was completed in 1844 and remains an example of military engineering and a marvel of human ingenuity. This is a site not to be missed right now the base is open to DoD and VIHA card holders but could open again soon to the general public.
