This is part of the National Park service with uniformed rangers greeting you. The museum preserves the nautical heritage of New Bedford, which was the leader in whaling in the 19th century. There is an excellent film reviewing the history. There are also displays and pamphlets for kids to complete to eat a ranger badge.

Admission is free (paid for by federal taxes).
The seafood and clam chowder are delicious! I’d highly recommend eating here for the seafood. There are some no -seafood options and a a few kid choices. Prices are average. It’s a take out or eat outside place. There are picnic tables and a small parking lot. Service is pretty fast. Ice cream portions are large!

This store is an experience! There are lots of stands displaying toys, lots of magic tricks, glitter tattoos, etc. Real toy soldiers greet you at the door. They have amazing things like blow up plastic- very strange! Then there’s lots of cool toy brands all in one place like build a bear, jelly cat, Barbie, and more. There’s a giant piano to stand on and play. Many toys to try and play with. This is not to miss!

Also- The FAO Schwartz brand stuffed animals are great!
