In 1905, Lokmanya Tilak purchased Kesari Wada in Narayan Peth from the Maharaja of Baroda, Shrimant Sayajirao Gaikwad, to serve as the office and residence for Kesari. The western portion was designated as Kesari's office and printing house, while the eastern part served as his residence.
