Lingaraj Temple
2023 Dec 20
A famous historic place to see in Bhubaneswar. It is an ancient temple of Lord Shiva.
Security is quite tight there. They do not allow phones, cameras, purses and shoes inside the temple campus. There is a counter to keep all these things near the entry.
There is a huge rush at most times and you have to be patient to be able to get entry into the temple complex.
The carvings are very intricate and beautiful.
A very good example of the architecture and design skills of our history.
One important point: Since this is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, the rush on Mondays is very high. So, it is better to go very early in order to have a darshan.
Good airport with all the features of modern airports.
There are lots of options for food and shopping. As with all airports, the food options are good but on the more expensive side.
They also have started the DigiYatra access where you can save time to enter the airport using this App.
The gates on the first floor are fine and have a decent amount of space. However, those on the ground floor (Gates 100-109) do not have enough space. The washrooms are pretty small as well and can do better with reference to cleaning.
One major issue I faced was in the Security check-in. They do not have separate trays for shoes. Even smaller airports have separate trays for shoes. However, here, the same trays are used for shoes as well as laptops, etc. That is a massive health and hygiene problem. I asked the security personnel about it and they mentioned that there are no separate trays for shoes. Requesting the Authorities to please ensure that this issue is resolved since hygiene is vital in these post covid times.

Update as on November 1, 2023: The DigiYatra App does not work here. It is the second time I have experienced this in the Kolkata Airport. It worked at the entry point but the DigiYatra system did not work at the Security Check-in point. Not sure when it will start working properly here🤔
