Vilnius Cathedral
2024 Aug 29
A beautiful Cathedral which is also known as the Cathedral Basilica of St. Stanislaus and St. Ladislaus. It is located in the heart of the city's Old Town and dates back to the 13th century. Understanably it has undergone several reconstructions due to fires, wars, and unstable soil. An impressive site is the cathedral's bell tower, which stands at 57 meters tall, is one of the symbols of Vilnius and offers a spectacular view of the Old Town/ And we certainly enjoyed the cathedral and the views. And I should have added that the crypt tour is must do.
This is a great place to wander and, rather reluctantly we took a horse cart tour which turned out to be a great way to see Camaguey in the centre with back cobble streets and through a couple of the plaza areas. We did feel akward but at least we were very close to the sites and it was unbelievable hot.

The One Pillar Pagoda is a historic Buddhist temple located in Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. It is regarded as one of the most iconic and important landmarks in the city. The pagoda was originally built in 1049 during the reign of Emperor Ly Thai Tong. The structure is designed to resemble a lotus blossom emerging from the water, and it holds significant cultural and religious significance for the Vietnamese people. The One Pillar Pagoda is a popular tourist attraction and a symbol of Hanoi's rich history and architectural heritage.
Tian Tan Buddha
2024 Jan 06
Also known as the Big Buddha this is located on Lantau Island and is the tallest outdoor seated Buddha statue in the world, measuring 34 metres (112 feet) in height and weighing over 250 tonnes. It is made made of 202 bronze pieces and was cast using the lost wax method. It overlooks the Po Lin Monastery and the South China Sea. We loved the cable car down from the mountain.
Nabq Nature Reserve
2023 Dec 13
Now to be clear we did not get out here until about 4pm with the prime purposes of camel riding and viewing the setting sun over the Sinai Peninsula. The reserve is huge covering about 600 sq miles so we did not get down near the sea. So my photos are of the Bedouin Camps, camels and most impressively the views. And if everything is in alignment you can try Bedouin breadmaking, and see sunset and moon rise.
