Also known as the Big Buddha this is located on Lantau Island and is the tallest outdoor seated Buddha statue in the world, measuring 34 metres (112 feet) in height and weighing over 250 tonnes. It is made made of 202 bronze pieces and was cast using the lost wax method. It overlooks the Po Lin Monastery and the South China Sea. We loved the cable car down from the mountain.
An exhausting climb up, as the stairs seem to be endless, but once you actually get there it all feels peaceful and serene even with the crowds. There is a mini-museum and some souvenir stores inside the Buddha, although they notably cost more up there.
The view up features most of Lantau Island, including scenes from Ngong Ping Village and the nearby monasteries. A hard climb up but it was a worthy trip.

A beautiful, majestic and peaceful place. There are temples nearby and be sure to visit the wisdom path as well. I only wished I could hike the Lantau Peak as well to get the full experience of this place. Overall I think it was worth the visit if you like to visit temples and nature. Take the bus if you think the cable’s car too expensive, though the wait could be quite long.
The Buddha itself is the main attraction and is a easy climb for young and old people providing you can make it downstairs because the older you get the knees start to give in.
The views from the top are quite impressive but a little windy so be prepared.

So sacred place with the Buddha. The temple nearby I felt so peaceful. It is still a tourist place. The view of the cable car is so amazing. In December the weather was nice and I felt so happy. A must visit place.
The biggest sitting Buddha! It's definitely worth making the trip to come over and walked up the 268 steps. Beautiful views of the mountains and the Po Lin Monastery once we got up to the top of the stairs. Could get up close to the Big Buddha through the inner staircase.
