Dined here and started with a number of snacks. They were all tasty; favourite was the wagyu menchi soft roll, meat was juicy with a crispy coating drenched in a sweet tangy tonkatsu sauce. The flatbread was crispy with a nice chew, only minus was that it was slightly over charred. For main, had the Sher wagyu topside steak which was served with fries and farm leaves. The steak was pre-cut, around ten slices; pretty tender without any gristle. It doesn't feel like a high marble cut for a MB8-9 but as you chew it gets more flavoursome. The yakiniku sauce with a bit of salt paired well with the steak giving it a sweet savouriness. Also had the yuzu hotcake for dessert; soft and warm, soaked with sweet syrup, a bit of cream on top with a citrus note.
This place only opens on weekdays and is a popular takeout option for workers around the area, especially for the panini sandwiches which is available from 11AM. To avoid the long queue, it is best to go before 12PM to avoid the lunch rush hour. Ingredients are prepared and the panini is assembled to order. The panini uses fresh bread roll which is not toasted, a little dense but has a nice texture and chew. I tried the porchetta and cotoletta. The porchetta had a distinct porky taste with some refreshing rocket leaves; meat was thinly sliced so it was tender. The crumbed pork in the cotoletta was also tender with a nice crunchiness from the coleslaw. Both panini were tasty and quite filling but was a little dry for my liking.
Had the barista breakfast which included three coffees using the same coffee beans: milk base, espresso and brew. Pretty good coffee, they have some sparkling water to cleanse your palette between each coffee.
Matcha house is a Japanese tea house which only opens at night serving a range of Japanese tea served in teapot, hot and cold matcha drinks, desserts as well as a seasonal special menu. Been here several times and tried a number of their matcha desserts. The go to are definitely the matcha lava cake with a melty strong matcha filling and the waffles which was soft and light with a subtle matcha flavour, toasted with a slight crisp. Matcha and houjicha ice cream tasted pretty good; tea flavours are on the milder side. There are limited number of table seats with chairs, the main dining area have low tables on a traditional floor board platform where you take your shoes off and seat on the floor with the cushion. Overall tasty matcha desserts; would recommend dining early as it gets very busy later at night and orders can take a while especially if you order the lava cakes which takes a minimum of 20 minutes.
Had the Chocolate Bueno Waffle and it was ok, a bit too sweet even without the cup of melted chocolate. Definitely need more strawberries on the side to balance the sugary sweetness of the waffle and chocolate.
