Old Stone House
2023 Nov 19
I did not go inside, I just visited when it was closed and went in the garden. I love that they keep the garden open even though the inside of the house is closed. It is the oldest house in Georgetown, built in 1766. The house is very well maintained.
Franconia Rec Center
2023 Sep 20
I went to the splash area and playground only, not inside. A few of the splash features do not work anymore like the water cannons, but overall it still has a lot of working fountains and splash areas, for being free it is awesome. The playground is in great shape and large enough for tons of kids to play there without it getting too crowded.
Tamanend Statue
2023 Jun 14
The statue is the figurehead of the USS Delaware, a ship that was sunk in 1861, the figurehead was salvaged then recast in bronze at the US Naval Gun Factory. There are some amazing cannons around this statue, hidden behind the benches. Look behind the benches to find the giant French cannons, with heads spitting fire and Latin inscriptions. Always clean and well maintained, very nice area.
Submarine Monument
2023 Jun 14
Monument to 100 years of the US Navy Submarine Force. Statue of submarine breaching the surface through waves of seamen and dolphins.
There is plenty of parking here and gigantic gazebo shelters with lots of picnic tables. The playground is a bit too artistic and not as much functional, the part kids actually want to play in is small. The frisbee golf course here has a basket that usually contains loaner disks in case you need to borrow a disk for a game or just to practice on the practice basket. Be careful walking in the woods around the frisbee golf course, I once ended up with 5 deer ticks on me after a game.
