3.8 Star. Overall.
My Szechwan friend is a regular here and says their food is the closest to the flavor she eats in her home town, especially the Catholic Sliced Chicken (my direct translation, not sure what it’s called on the menu) which she always order when dining here, in addition to the Toothpick Lamb.

5 Star. Flavor.
All the dishes we ordered were delicious, bursting with flavor, and not your average boring stuff from other Chinese restaurants. It’s authentic to the max. Tastes like food my Szechwan friend and her mom would make and just like how they make it in Szechwan when I visited.

3 Star. MSG.
Unfortunately, I don’t think this restaurant can fully accommodate a NO-MSG request. We made sure to request for no MSG for all the dishes, the waiter noted it and I was happy and enjoyed my meal, though I doubted the no MSG from its taste. Right when I got home, I felt so drowsy and was forced to knock out for over 2 hours, a sure sign of post-MSG effect. Perhaps no MSG was sprinkled onto the finished dish, but MSG was already added in during the preparation process. As a courtesy, They should at least point out which dishes had pre-marinated MSG so I can consume less of it. What a waste of my life napping.

4.75 Overall. Great flavor, not overly salty like most Japanese restaurants. Smaller portions for lower prices which is great so I can try more items. The Asparagus Roll is interesting, never had something like it before. It’s more of like sliced chinese picked cucumber wrap in a roll.

Would return if in the area. Great price, value and taste. A comfortable place to relax and dine.

Cons: No elevators. How do parents with young children and strollers or elderly ones survive in this city.... Saw an elderly man walk out the train last night, barely managing to lift each foot forward half a step at a time, paused to catch his breath after barely managing to exit the train before the door closed. Then there’s 3 looooong flights of stairs for him to go down thereafter. So sad. So sad. So sad! Just thinking about it makes me feel like it’s a plunge to death. So sad.

Pros: Children under 44 inches ride for free. Just duck under to get in. The staff doesn’t even mind if kids are slightly taller. Nice.

4.25 STAR. Overall. I’m pleasantly surprised at this place, I walked in thinking it’ll be a bad lunch experience but I’ll endure it to hang out with friends. The food quality is up to par and not overly salty. Apparently my friends are frequent customers here, and now it’ll be added to my list of would return places. Only thing that lingers on my mind is that a large drink and single bowl of soup noodle costs me $20 flat out the door. Not exactly inexpensive, especially when I can get rid of lunch and conveniently feed a whole family with In-n-Out located in the same plaza. Its appeal to me is that it offers unique and light items on the menu that other typical Taiwanese restaurants in the area do not offer. Most other Taiwanese places only offer fried, fried, deep fried, and overly fried food... so glad I can not feel dry here. Short by a star, despite the boba tea tasting good, is that its non-caffeinated tea drinks is nearly non-existent. I do get sick of caffeine overdose and do prefer a more relaxing system with milder, calmer tea from time to time, so I don’t have to stay up until 3:30 am as it occurred... I’d be glad to up the star when more options become available.

4.5 STAR. $11.95 Hakka Salty Pork Noodle Soup. Pleasantly surprised at the flavor, texture, and even the feel after the meal. This special black-colored noodle does not leave me feeling heavy and bogged down like regular noodles do. The pork was distinctly flavorful and the soup was not overly salty. Server recommended this as a popular dish on the soup menu section, as it’s my custom to find out upon initial visit. Did not disappoint. I wish there was more soup in my bowl, but I know everyone consumes differently so it’s hard to get it just perfect. (I had 1/3 bowl of noodles unfinished, my friend had none yet the soup is completely untouched.)

4 STAR. Boba Milk Tea. Great boba texture, smooth natural tea and milky milk flavor. Strong caffeine effects. I don’t usually prefer to get caffeinated drinks as it recks havoc to my natural balance. (Aftermath of taking too much caffeine pills for finals while in college...) I would avoid it next time for my own benefit, but I wouldn’t mind recommending it to caffeine lovers.

3 STAR. Service. Mediocre at best, but it doesn’t bother me much with average service at an Asian restaurant. However it does get noticeable and start to get annoying when we had to request for to-go container repeated without fulfillment. My friend ended up self-serving to get over the hurdle. Everything else was done right, just missed the mark on this.

Other. Friends enjoyed the 3 Cup Chicken and Beef Noodle Soup here. Good to note for future visits.
