Birmingham Cathedral

As cathedrals go this is very small in comparison to most and I love cathedrals . But it is a really lovely building and has some gorgeous pre Raphaelite stained glass windows by Sir Edward burne Jones and William Morris . Plus this is my home town and I love it , also Saint Chad's the Catholic cathedral is close by so visit them both they are both beautiful . Well worth a look if you are in Brum . Plus they sometimes hold concerts there and the atmosphere is serene and lovely .
Beautiful cathedral, unusual in its design and so modern compared to how you think about classic cathedrals but a joy to visit so quiet and serene inside the colours dancing through the stained glass were captivating. The most beautiful stations of the cross I have ever seen . But judge for yourself . Go visit and enjoy .
Another amazing free museum in beautiful Thetford, the museum, is in the actual old paint shop of Charles Burrells factory an amazing place with beautiful steam traction engines and a long and interesting history plus they have a lovely little cafe as well . The bonus also is that they have the original Corporal Jack Jones the butchers van from dad's army resting in their museum. .I must say it is staffed by volunteers who also keep the old steam engines in wonderful condition .
The staff were hard working but very friendly and very informative about the wonderful museum and its fine collection of engines and artifacts . Again a must visit place if you are in lovely Thetford .
Thetford Priory

This is a free entry English heritage site . It is a large site with an interesting and sinister history there were several murders on this site and it was also one of the last priorys in England to be suppressed by Henry VII because it was under the protection of the Duke of Norfolk who was a powerful and respected man . Wonderful quiet site to walk on your own with family or walk your dog around , plenty to see and lots of information boards scattered about the site . Well worth a visit if you are in or near Thetford ,
Absolutely amazing place , lots of original props from the show very informative, lots to see and a lovely little cafe as well .plus, it was free entry, which was amazing . They have a great souvenir shop where you can purchase lots of dads army related items . It was not a particularly large museum but had so much to see and do in there that it felt big if that makes sense .plus so many more dad's army related maps of the area and filming locations . Wonderful informative and helpful volunteer staff . A must see place to visit in the beautiful town of Thetford
