Food was really good but loses two stars for not allowing card payments
Very good Serbian grill
Given positive reviews on here, I was keen to try this place out. Having placed my order using a well known home delivery service - I waited 2hrs for a non-delivery. Yep. Nothing. No call. No email. No refund. Having called the place at 10:07pm, the cook, the wife, co-owner who knows? (Would not give her name to assist my inquiry of a refund) gave a lack lustre performance saying no-one could deliver. This explanation I could accept. (She is given a 1 Star because she at least took my call whereas her husband passed the call over. It happened!) What was utterly unacceptable was the owners never cared to call to cancel my order, to inform by simply calling, doing something, anything to say they could not fulfil their obligation. Did they think they could get away with it? On a Saturday night, I was simply not given any option to order elsewhere due to incompetency. Awful experience. Complete oversight or scam who knows? A thin hope no comeback by online customer. Such a shame really. Cancelled order, failure to deliver could simply have been resolved with a quick phone call. Instead I have to write this godforsaken review to warn others that you may or may not get your delivery depending on the competency of whoever has to take your online order. No food. No chance to order elsewhere. Unacceptable.
Excellent place with the Serbian cuisine, which, to me, is close to the Czech cuisine. A lot of meat. But here you have the whole page of fish. All we ordered was ample and tasty. The ranking would be 1) guliash 2) meat mix with parsley potatoes served with the Serbian fish. We also loved their bread offered as a compliment. 4 courses with a jar of wine would fill 4 guest abundantly for EUR 73. The place is cosey indeed. The waiter was professional: fast, all got quickly, served as we asked for.

Great food here, but you must be a meat lover to eat here, definitely for vegans. Stuffed plescavita is a must try, also beef soup is special and the beer is good and cold. Make sure you speak Serbian or German, English is not so welcome here lol.

Unfortunately, the service at that place was the most impolite I have ever encountered in my life. The staff were extremely rude, and the overall atmosphere was very unfriendly. I deeply regretted wasting my time and money there. I apologize for speaking so negatively, but the behavior of the employees was unacceptable.

Really tasty Balkan food! I fully recommend this restaurant if you would like to try real Balkan dishes, polite service and prices are reasonable.

A short walk from the main train station, well worth the hike if you want something different from a chain restaurant. We enjoyed the mixed grill of pork and chicken cuts and sausages.

Amazing grill mix for 2 people: tasty meat with delicious hot bread to eat with. Nice and quick service on a rainy day in Wien. 100% recommended.

Craving Cevapi and this place really hit the spot, bread was fresh and heated up on the grill. Meal for 1 person was a mixed grill, good if you are hungry. Meat grilled to perfection. Note cash only. Staff have limited English but enough to order. Quite a local spot, lot of locals chilling there, very authentic, family run business. Best meal I've had in Vienna, and affordable!
Very disappointed!! It's delicious, but the service is terrible !! The waiter or the administrator is rude and did not allow us to enter with a dog weighing 2.5 kg. We were here often with our dog and everything was fine. But today, hearing our Ukrainian language, he immediately began to speak badly to us and did not allow us to enter!
It's a very cozy place with a friendly Serbian atmosphere. The portions are incredibly huge and the dishes we had were all outstanding. I highly recommend the Kalbsfleisch in Römertopf and the Jagdgulasch.
As it is generally the case with Serbian cuisine, the main dishes are not very vegetarian friendly. However, the grilled peppers, ajvar and the salads were really great, especially with the piping hot home baked bread which should work for vegans too.

This was my very first time and first couple of hours in Vienna. I suddenly found this place on the maps. The food was great and the staff was really nice. The cleanliness should be improved.

So nice. Meat delicious, bread and spreads a dream. Great beer, nice location. Only minor weakness: service speed. Friendliness not. Great place to enjoy heavy Serbian meals and have a drink. Live music makes it even better!

Some of the best Serbian food I've ever had. We order the mixed grill and a couple of salads, which was more than enough for two people. Every bit of meat was an explosion of flavour and the traditional style of bread was baked fresh that day and warmed up on the grill.

The food is fantastic. The atmosphere does not disappoint. The Lambsuppe was so flavorful and smooth. The weiner schnitzel was perfect. Parsley potatoes were perfect, I could not get enough. My family loved the fish and cordon Bleu. I will definitely return.

Dieses authentische Restaurant abseits des Stadtgeschehens bietet in einer rustikalen Atmosphäre für jeden etwas. Spontan haben wir uns für einen Besuch entschieden und waren an einem Montag wohlgemerkt die einzigen Gäste, jedoch hat uns der Koch herzlich empfangen und köstliche Fleischgerichte in Minutenschnelle hingezaubert: Serbische Küche (Balkanrestaurant) mitten in Wien. Beim nächsten Wienbesuch kommen wir wieder.
We had Boxing Day walking and noticed this place! Only 3 stars because we drink only 🍻 beers! Place was nice and good service and the beer was good 👍! Interior was very nice and I will come back!!!!
We asked for a 500g plate of Meat, we told the waiter 3x before he left the table and he brought the 1kg plate. We complained and they said that we received what we ordered. The food was good but they don't care about the customers.
haben dieses Restaurant über "The Fork" gefunden und es war wirklich sehr lecker: Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt auf jeden Fall, Atmosphäre auch top und sehr freundliche Kellner! Falls man wegen Covid heuer keinen Balkan-Urlaub machen konnte kann man sich hier etwas Atmosphäre holen :) Kommen sicher wieder!!

Great Serbian restaurant with fresh food and delicious meat. The Serbian bean soup is to die for. Service makes the best out of the situation, maybe not always with the smile, but not for this unfriendly.
If you're a meat fan — it is a place for you. Huge portions of very tasty grilled meat and small prices. Liked it a lot!

Great Balkan restaurant with a big open charcoal grill. Fresh meat everyday and really nice bread. Prices are low so value for money is really high. Service is also good, never had any problems.

i visited balkan express on 31.12.2017 and ordered a 1kg grill plate to go. As I live in the same building, cozier to eat at home. I got a coke to wait for my order, thinking it would take a while for the meat to get ready. I saw the waiter joke around with the grill boys and turned my attention to my coke. I was surprised, when just a couple minutes later my meat came readily packed and assumed that the grill boys had had already some meat ready. I gave the waiter a huge tip to express my thanks, gobbled down my coke and hurried home to eat my meat. Only when I arrived in my kitchen (about 60 seconds later) and sat down to my meal, it was cold as if it had not even been put on the grill for a second. I had to heat it up again in a pan in order to eat it. Very disappointing experience. Next time I will go to the balkan express, I will make sure to bring a serbian friend along. I kind of got the feeling this might change things there. The homemade bread was excellent tough.

Quality to price like no where else, staff very professional and do speak German/English/Srbian/Croatian. Would recommend roasted pork, veal and buffet. Cevapi are worth improving!
