Best Conveyor belt sushi restaurants in Australia

Waited an hour for our food. We asked repeatedly and they said the kitchen was busy but it was coming “soon”. After 40 minutes they realised they forgot to send the order to the kitchen. They didn’t even apologise. To top it off the toilet was broken. Avoid.

Came here on Friday night as we were hungry and most other places had a line or were full and we can understand why this place had so much space. While the food was decent, it was quite expensive for what it was and the sushi train was no better, with some of the fried foods soft already during dinner service. Overall I wouldn’t recommend if in the area and just try and find another restaurant instead.

Never again. We visited Tao today at 4pm because most restaurants in the vicinity had closed between lunch and dinner. What a mistake. Service was slow and forgetful. Kaiten food was poor quality and sparse. Sign at the table stated that we wait for plates to be counted. Despite asking for the account we were not met at the table with someone to count the plates. Waste of time, waste of money, will not ever return; we'd rather travel to Jaws or other reputable Kaiten sushi.

never again. some lullaby music playing in the background while we ate old dry sushi. the salmon tasted like everything but salmon since they obviously don’t change gloves or wash their knifes at all. the server didn’t even give us a menu or anything. barley any selection and i saw jelly and bagged lollies pass me more often than actual sushi. for a sushi train that’s kinda strange. instead of this ‘sushi train’ go to the one in carousel, at least they have fresh for and servers who know what to do. it felt like a food hall. soy bean drink was good tho.

Always a pleasure visiting this Sushi Train for a meal. The sushi is always fresh and the staff are always friendly. The restaurant is always clean and we look forward to our next visit.

Come here often... food is always supreme... the aburi section is the one to choose in my opinion!!

Best sushi in the area by far, friendly staff and reasonable prices.

I visited Sushi Train in Broadbeach, Gold Coast around 8 PM to pick up an order, and the front staff was extremely rude. The lady at the counter told me to wait outside in a very unkind manner. I was simply there to pick up an order and expected basic respect. A friend experienced similar treatment a few months ago. I won’t be accepting pickups from Sushi Train Broadbeach again and wouldn’t recommend it to other drivers. Please treat everyone with dignity.

Incredibly impressed, wish we had one to this standard back home. Love the way the train is sectioned rather than random. And supreme hygiene standard. Love love love!

This place is bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. I was seated as soon as I walked in the door by a friendly polite lady. I will be back for more.

I went to this sushi train and majority of the food on the train looked very old. I ordered off the QR code and waited 40 minutes before asking the lady if my order had been missed, she then said it will be 3 minutes. I then sat for another 20 minutes before receiving my ONE PLATE of sushi. There was only one lady on shift doing everything or lack of. All of the tables had dirty plates on them, and it wasn’t even busy. Very disappointed with the experience.

This is in my humble opinion one of the best quality sushi trains in Australia, and I have tried LOTS of them from Sydney to Perth. The fish is incredibly fresh, the rice cooked just right! The prices also very reasonable. Very pleasant surprise!

I've been a loyal customer here for over a decade, visiting several times a week back then. It always felt like coming home, with the staff being so warm and welcoming. Returning to Gold Coast, I made sure to revisit this establishment. However, after ten years, I noticed significant changes, not in the food, but in the service. The staff are now incredibly cold,lacking basic greetings or eye contact, making you feel like you're invisible. It's truly disappointing.

Loved it. Best service, they're so friendly and it was our first time so they gave us a rundown. They constantly kept the conveyer belt stacked with various sushi. A great selection of stuff. And then they add everything up and payments super easy. I'll have to try out more sushi trains although this will be hard to beat. Every seat was full, the minute a table is free a group would walk in like clockwork. It was amazing.

Good food, fresh Sashimi, would have been great if the servings will be a bit more like the others, but I recommend this Sushi resto to everyone, try and you'll enjoy it.

Worst service EVER!!! And this place is filthy dirty. I haven’t been to this location in 15 years until today (lived closer to other Sushi Train locations) and it has not change at all. It’s in desperate need of an update. It just feel gross. And like the utensils, floor, tables aren’t even clean. Dirt is visible on everything. Also, they literally had one staff member on (and that was the sushi chef), nobody at all in the entire restaurant to help with any requests. I had to search for somebody to help me and she was sitting down eating at one of the booths. This is so unprofessional. Will certainly never be back

One of the best Sushi Trains in the South East. Foods always fresh, service/staff are always friendly and responsive, cost still represents good value. Would love a Sushi Train cooking school for the public once a month!

Great find off the main strip. Beautiful fresh sushi, friendly staff and the line is worth the wait. Go in to collect your ticket number and let them know how many people you have. Always my favourite style of eating as a single person.

Lovely staff, great service, and really nice food. Normally a line outside in peak times, but goes quick and they give you a number. Standard pricing for a sushi train - cheapest dishes on the train is about $4. Would go again any day, and highly recommend!

Terrible set up - it is sort of like a Sushi train, which is okay if you want to dine in, but if you want take away - there is no menu and you have to order using a silly iPad that is stuck to the bench.

There staff weren’t much help with the ordering but at least he directed me to the Sushi place inside the shopping centre near the Aldi…

We were here for late lunch so it was not busy. Peaceful and quiet relaxing. Nice selection of food from the menu and there is a sushi train. We had beef Singapore noodles and crispy chicken fried rice. There were delicious. Staffs were not really attentive but service was fine. I don’t mind to dine in here but I think it’s lacking atmosphere. I hope the restaurant will look into this to improve.

A small conveyor belt sushi restaurant. The portions are huge! Difficult for a one biter, but good value. You can also order via a QR for drinks and hot items.

Had a great time eating lunch here, they had a discount during this time on rice dishes. The salmon don is great, would love to see more carrots in the curry. The okonomiyaki is flavourful. I think the corn dog I ordered dough was a little undercooked. The cheesecakes are on the more solid side and slightly eggy, so if you prefer that, then order them!
The owner was very very nice despite running the restaurant on his own, and he even gave us an ice-cream taiyaki as a thanks for us stacking the dishes we had finished. Overall a pleasant time with not much to fuss over.

We came in for the lunch service and were met by a lovely staff member working on his own. He seated us and apologised for the slow service as he was the only one on duty. The service was quick and the food portions massive. Food was presented beautifully and exceeded expectations taste wise. The staff member was so lovely and kept apologising for the “slow” service even though he was quick and serving amazing, quality food. An amazing first experience, thank you to the lovely staff member who looked after us! We will be sure to come back to enjoy your service again for dinner when you’re fully staffed! ☺️

Nothing special over here, came during dinner time and it was really quiet with only one other table of customer. There are a limited selection of sushi, maybe because it was a Tuesday. The fried food was not crispy and udon tasted ordinary. The chicken katsu was cold and not enjoyable at all.

MUST TRY sushi train place in Springvale, great value for a bowl of ramen noodle $9.80 and curry rice for only $12.90! Amazing sushi to go with it! Nice environment too, can't get better than this in Springvale :)

Good place to have Sushi in Victoria Park. Atmosphere is good, place is good for groups and families. Variety of Sushis are available on the train which keeps moving near the table. Staff was polite, service was really good. Recommended to try different type of Sushi’s here. If you have preferences of Vegan or Gluten Free Sushi, that is also available on the separate Menu.

Great selection of food at a very good quality and the QR code makes it so easy to order something that isn't on the train.

Overall 5 ⭐ experience although I must say the ala carte dish I ordered, Katsudon, needs a little more flavor (just for my preference). The sushi was great and it was so fresh..The restaurant experience was excellent because of the warm and attentive service of the crew and the cleanliness of the restaurant. We will definitely go back here. 😊

Very nice Sushi and well priced. I loved there Nigiri and prawn noodle soup. The restraunt was not very crowded for Sunday lunch but it is competing with a multitude of eating places in Springvale. The service was very friendly and the restraunt was very clean. Food was fresh which is very important for Japanese food. Overall very satisfying Japanese. Please add the chicken karage to the menu.

Been here quite a few times since the revamp and take over. The quality of the sushi is better and service is really good. Great place to catch up :) Quite affordable too.

First time visitor to this store and I must say, I’m quite impressed. The train was full of variety of sushi. The food was really good and fresh. The staff were quick to get items that were not on the train. Nice laid back atmosphere. Will definitely go back.

Certainly the rice has improved. I quite enjoy the new rice dishes particularly at the temporary discounted prices! The salmon don was particularly well presented and tasted fresh and healthy. Keep it up

New sushi train restaurant in Springvale located between ANZ and Bun Bun. Pleasant environment and was very clean. Very polite and efficient service. Ordered via grabbing dishes off the sushi train or via QR code (needed this for udon). Unfortunately on my day of eating the music was slightly too loud so the ambience was not the best.

Cost of dishes was based on the colour of the plates starting at $3.90 to $7.90. There was a 10 percent discount if a review was written which I did not utilise to avoid bias.

As an overall feel (and this could have been the unfortunate day of my experience) the rice on all the sushi felt really mushy and gluggy. There was so much potential as the toppings and ingredients used tasted fresh and nice.

Ordered
Salmon nigiri $3.90. The salmon was nice and plump.

Scallop nigiri $5.90. Felt abit expensive particularly as the scallop used was tiny. Was not my favourite.

Salmon cream cheese roll $4.90. Loved the mixture of textures on this role. The creaminess was great however once again was let down by the rice.

Eel cream cheese roll $4.90. the eel version was just as good!

Udon karage chicken and udon tampura prawns. 7.90 for each. Unfortunely the udon soup felt extremely watered down and lacked any flavour. The chicken also lacked salt and was quite dry. The tampura prawns, similar to the chicken felt about the same.

Sushi train has so much potential in Springvale. The price however was slightly too high for the quality I received and the rice on my day was likely a bad batch. I really hope it was just my day of eating as it is a newly opened restaurant. I will likely give it another go in a few months and update my review.

All plates $4.50 which is reasonable. Considering the staff are really friendly and the sushi was so fresh it's worth it.

This is my first time to come here. It was flavourful and very delicious. The staff are very friendly. I will be definitely come back to try the other sushi 🍣 😊👍

Sensational Sushi Family Feast at Sushi Train, Gold Coast😃

We had a delicious sushi feast for our dinner at Sushi Train Japanese restaurant in Surfers Paradise.
Everything was freshly made & very tasty. We had a lovely variety of sushi & doubled up on a few of these dishes too.
We really enjoyed this family dinner on our Gold Coast holiday.

If you are in Surfers Paradise & love sushi, then definitely check out Sushi Train restaurant.

Low quality ingredients, not many menu items, missing popular menu items, food rotation needs better management. I've eaten at sushi trains all over Australia. This is not the usual standard and the first time I didn't enjoy my food. We are a little and then left.

We've been to a fair few Sushi Trains in SE QLD and this one didn't disappoint. Good variety and well-stocked train. The main sushi chef that day was a bit sloppy with his creations but it didn't affect the taste. Super impressed with the hot meals - particularly the Japanese curry. The katsu chicken was incredibly crunchy on the outside but juicy in the middle. Other than being a bit understaffed, everyone was friendly and attentive. If you don't want to be waiting in line for ages, try and get there before 12:30pm for lunch.

Edit: we won't be returning. Twice we have had issues and this business has no resolution process. First issue we had was over cooked rice. The sushi ended up in the bin. Wasted alot of money that night. It was only one time, but I was promised a call from the manager and no one contacted me to resolve in any way. We gave another chance, but yesterday paid for mayo we didn't receive, and only given 3 soy sauce for 12 lots of sushi. Not a major big deal, but again the staff were not empowered to give any resolution, and promised call from manager never came. I'll be going back to sushi train where at least if there is an issue, it will be resolved.

Went to the Melville Tao Cafe on the 2 May and that was 5 stars. Boy was that really good sushi and a lot of different variety. Went to the Victoria Park one today and the sushi variety was a lot less and had to order from the menu as the ones that I did like never went on the sushi train. Plus the sushi rice was not made perfectly.

Maybe be best to stick with the Melville store as had a better experience there then the Vic Park store.

Good atmosphere to be, great for groups, families and even couples. Kids love the sushi train especially when it comes to desserts. They serve not only sushi but other Asian food. Plenty to choose from despite some hits and misses when it comes to taste but overall experience is great. Located next to IGA,this place is quite spacious. Service is good and food is reasonably priced.

I have been very loyal to sushi train for the past six years in another state. I am Happy to say that this is now my local and has been for the past five years

The first time I went there, I was pleasantly surprised by friendly and helpful service.

They don’t mind at all, substitutions. And as I get minus “this” and plus three “that’s”. And it came out just the same as I’ve always received back in Sydney. I am happy as a dog barking, a bird flying or a pig playing in mud.

Expect to wait for a while for a place to seat during peak hours. The food taste fresh with average size portions. One of the chef selection was not exciting, so don't rely on their suggestion. I had 7 plates of various sushi before calling it quits. Total damage, AUS35. A little bit expensive but a good place to go if you are not too hungry.

Very fresh food, great range of sauces, Tonkatsu, Gyoza etc. I think the portion sizes are fairly standard, not at all small. Very busy the day we visited, plenty of friendly, helpful staff. Music is fairly ordinary, but it's a Sushi Train after all. The only complaint I have is the green tea, it was vile.
