Best Turkish restaurants in Australia

I recently visited Chorba, it used to be my fav place for brekkie, but during my recent visit it was a bit drop off for me. I had their big breakfast which is their speciality but I didn’t enjoy it this time like I used to earlier. They have changed the bread and I guess some of the items were missing on the plate. The big breakfast had become pricy as well and now it’s for $35. But still the customer service was good and like always, the ambiance and surrounding is great. Had a mix experience overall.

Wow! Let me start off by saying that the lady at the front is fantastic! Customer Service was a 10/10 & the food itself was a 10/10! My wife and I had ordered from the other kebab place down the road from jindi and were so disappointed. We decided to try jindi as it was just a short walk away and we are glad we did. We came in 5 minutes before closing time while they were cleaning up and emptying the kitchen and the lady at the front still decided to make us a fresh kebab! The lamb was a 10/10, the salad was fresh and still so crispy, and the bread was so nice! They also give out great portion, just see the photos I’ve attached they really pack it! Worth the money & will 100% fill your stomach!

They serve authentic Turkish food, and the food was nice. Not top notch or too bad. The atmosphere was nice and the meat was a bit extra cooked and bland.

Food was ok and we had enough to eat but the waiter looked stressed and we were 4 people out of 12 for the whole night. 7-30 to 9-30.
We were told to book, haha.
The entertainment was poor and the dancer was there for 15 mins. ( Not a Turkish dancer either)
I won't be going there again. !!!
$240 for 4 people and a bad nights entertainment was the cherry on top.
Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.
Bathrooms were dirty, the door didn't lock and there was a quarter of a roll of toilet paper in 1 of the 4 toilets.

If I can give 0 stars I will,food not fresh and very poor one piece each of lamb chop,and chicken cabab , my friend is gluten free they gave her vegan she got sick we try complaining the old man in the kitchen didn't want to know about it, the money we paid $60 we probably got $20 worth of food very disappointing 🥺

I have been to Antalya several times now and the food has been exceptional every time. I've been to many Turkish restaurants old school and modern in Melbourne over the years being a foodie but Antalya by far is superior to the rest when it comes contemporary Turkish Cuisine. All the dishes are full of flavour and the aromas coming out of the kitchen would convince you that you're in Turkey. All produce used for dishes are always fresh and to a high standard with really generous portions, reasonable prices. The home made Turkish bread is absolutely delicious too. From the variety of charcoaled meats such as the mixed grill, to the dips are all so authentic and flavoursome.The Turkish pizzas are mouth watering too, especially the Lahmacun (spiced minced with tomato, onion etc) authentic and always served hot and fresh. Also it's great in regards to vegetarian or vegan options, like falafel and many other options. Presentation is beautiful and appealing to the eye. The owner along with the staff are so warm and welcoming which is lovely.So, if you're looking for the best, delicious and most impressive authentic Turkish Cuisine, I highly recommend Antalya turkish restaurant. Everyone is so wonderful warm and happy and welcoming absolutely loved the place and the boss there is an absolute stunner food was top notch and cleanliness everything on point👌.

Ordered a HSP, was not disappointed at all. Especially with the current cost and portion sizes nowadays, Jindi Kebabs offers a nice serving at a very good price. The atmosphere is also amazing and clean. Fairly fast service time as well

By far this place delivered the most consistent quality of kebab. Everything on the menu is well above average. Went back to this place many times. I recommend.

Staff were lovely and so welcoming. Very cosy, wholesome environment and the food and coffee was amazing, honestly, if you’re looking for a true authentic Turkish breakfast, I wouldn’t recommend anywhere other than this place! A must try!

Had breakfast here a few days ago. The staff was very lovely. Super friendly and accommodating for us. We ordered the Shakshoka, eggs with sujuk, kofta plate, grilled chicken and pastrami on toast and a big kettle of Turkish tea. The food came quickly, in about 20 ish mins. The serving sizes were very good. The quality of the food was also amazing. Every was delicious and warm. Completely halal.

It can come across a bit on the pricey end however, the food and the serving sizes were good so we will definitely be coming again. They have some indoor sitting and some outdoor sitting.

We love this place, we eat here regularly. The owner is really generous and welcoming, the food is delicious. The atmosphere and decor great.
Order too much and bring the pide home to pop in the toaster for a snack tomorrow.
Also the food travels well if you are getting it delivered.

A bit fancyish Turkish restaurant but a good one in terms of quality and flavour. Their bread is a must try(you need to ask for 1 complimentary serve)

We loved their chili dip, eggplant and adana grill.

We had a family event here tonight. Food was average and stingy servings. That is not the worst part. The music was so loud you couldn’t have conversation with the person next to you. At least 5 of us asked the DJ to turn down the volume a little bit. Yet he being the centre of attention was more important than us being able to experience a comfortable dining experience.

Amazing experience at Jindi Kebab House! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious, especially the flavorful mixed grill. The chips were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The dips were tasty complements.
Loved the authentic Middle Eastern music playing too. Overall an outstanding meal with fantastic service and quality.
Highly recommend it!

I’ve just moved back to the GC after living here for 35 years and knowing all the restaurants.

I ordered a kebab with salad, pineapple and a couple of other ingredients and the beef kebab only contained the basic salad

Wow… this place is so so good.
By far the best Turkish restaurant I have been to in Melbourne. The portion sizes are soo good and reasonable. The food tastes so hot delicious and full of flavour.
We tried many of the items on menue and they were all so delicious.
The eggplant stuffing is a must if you’re eggplant fan. You won’t regret it.
The soup was the best ever

The eskender was a tad dry and not enough saucy but everything else was super delicious and just perfect 12/10

Came here with my partner about 30 mins ago, service was amazing, greeted so politely and the lady who served us, was so kind, offering help with everything.
I got a large HSP, my partner a small one.
They are HUGE, really good value and will absolutely be coming here again

Good food, friendly stuff, huge portions, and very clean place. Everything is really great but the pricing is well over the top. Paid for a kebab plate with chips and drink $36 which I think is a bit hefty. Besides that no complaints.

one person working in the kitchen, food is not fresh nor are the portions worth $20+, service is poor - one women working, she can’t talk English & has an attitude because we can’t understand her, talks over us/doesn’t let the person ordering finish talking, rice & meat from days before, waited 40+ mins for meals, dips are all sour… want Turkish food? literally go anywhere else.

Best Turkish food!

We love coming here as a family. The food is great, never leave hungry as the portions are really generous and the customer service is fantastic. Everyone is so friendly and they are always up for a chat. It’s one of the only places everyone in the family agrees on coming to. We love to dine in and the atmosphere is always great. Such a wonderfully run family business!

I recently got take away at this Restaurant, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The food quality was subpar, with dishes that lacked flavor and were poorly executed.

I would not recommend zahara Restaurant based on this experience. The food quality, lack of attention to detail, make it a place to avoid if you're looking for a satisfying dining experience.

Went there today.The lady at the front was polite and nice but the food was salty.I think the rice was left from some days ago and reheated before serving.Overall it wasn’t good.I don’t know how it gets 4.5 on google.

Stopped by the fab Kebab House after shopping yesterday lunchtime and had a snack pack. Handily stationed side of road on chevron for that quick arrival / get away.
Snack pack well marinaded and good combination of meat and sauce.

Kabin, stands out for their exceptional service as a server. His positive attitude and professional demeanor have consistently impressed me. Will come back to fab kebab again when i am back on the coast.

I never write bad reviews but this place really deserves one.
I'll start with the "service" - I'm not sure what was happening in this guys life but he certainly wasn't happy or friendly. He was wearing rubber gloves taking our order and handling money....same gloves were worn when he was making the food...I hate to think how long he had them on🤢

I ordered a gozleme for $16!!!! What actually came out was a squashed kebab. It was disgusting and the worst gozleme I have ever had.

Hopefully the owner can read this and educate his staff about customer service and hygiene.

We can't describe how good is the food, quality, and environment. The taste is from heaven 😍. Is more than hour drive from home, but still it worth to drive and get the meal here. I would really suggest for whoever wants to get a real taste of turkish food. Personnel are very helpful and kind to assist with anything needed.

We've been eager to visit a Turkish restaurant for quite some time, and this one came highly recommended. We reserved a table and were greeted by friendly staff.

For the starter dishes, we opted for the Mixed Dip Plate ($20) and selected Cacik, Eggplant, Spicy Capsicum, Humus, and Beetroot. We also ordered the Kiymali (Lahmacun) ($18). As our main course, we ordered the Mixed Grill ($35).

The food was served in stages and was at the perfect temperature. We enjoyed everything that was presented to us. The dips, particularly the beetroot and eggplant, were delicious. The Lahmacun was crispy and flavorful, and the mixed grill was wonderfully seasoned and juicy.

We were so full that we had to take the Lahmacun home with us :)

Overall, a wonderful spot to enjoy authentic Turkish cuisine, and we're already looking forward to our next visit.

The food was lovely, we enjoyed it. Just keep in mind this is a middle Eastern-INFLUENCED restaurant, so don't expect high authenticity of Middle Eastern food; just my opinion as someone who has lived in the Middle East for over a decade.
Good menu varieties. Not so friendly staff.
When we ask for the bill at the end of dining, the waitress throws the bill at our table, and then she just left without saying a word. I thought she would come back with the CC machine or at least tell us where to pay. She just left to different areas of the restaurant, never look back - ouch!

Truely the best kebab in AU so far (for me). Nice seasoned, big portions, real authentic Turkish food! Ordered Adana (lamb on flat bread with salad and eggplant dip) 10/10 tasty juicy full of flavour, the eggplant dip complete the dish! Second course classic döner kebab wrap - $10 and you will get huge rollo packed of meat. For me could be little bit more sauce but this was the best value for money! South Australian kebab shops should come here to learn how to make proper kebab!!!! Highly recommended definitely when back to Melbourne will visit again!!!

As a Moroccan familiar with Middle Eastern cuisine, my visit to Mekkah Bah was very disappointing. The food lacked authentic flavors, the service was inattentive, and the prices were steep. The overall atmosphere added to the disappointment. Unfortunately, this experience didn't meet expectations based on positive reviews.

We love it here! Great authentic turkish breakfast option and reasonably priced too!

We had a banquet menu with 3 main choices for 6 people. The food was absolutely delicious, their cocktails were great. Staff members are very attentive and friendly.

•Trio dip: all 3 dips are fantastic, you can taste they are made with fresh, good quality ingredients, the house bread was delicious.

•Beef ribs: pulling apart and juicy, comes with the best sweet potato chips, so good!

•Chicken kebabs: great, the rice comes with is really delicious, the texture is great as Al Dante.

•Squid: amazing! Broccolini was so juicy and crunchy, it’s bedded on couscous and some sort of purée- so delicious.

•lamb pizza: kids loved them

•dessert was Baklavas & Turkish delight: goooood!

It was a great value for money and the portions were perfect as we were full and took away the left overs.

We will be back for more, thank you very much for the great experience and the service.

Tried the Turkish Breakfast for the very 1st time (courtesy kids wanna try something different), and it turned out to be a very good experience. Staff was friendly and helped us select the menu. We settled on the set meal as it had everything on the menu served as a platter and comes with tea as well. They were generous in providing breads :-)

Would definitely visit them again to try out other things like slow cooked lamb.

I really, really, REALLY hate giving negative reviews... I know how hard hospitality businesses have had it since COVID, but I wouldn't be honest to myself if I mislead people.

Firstly the good... Service was friendly, helpful and courteous. The venue was clean and food came out fairly quickly.

But... The food was beyond average 😞

I remember watching an episode of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares where he criticised the number of items on the menu. This is what I thought of first with the sheer number of options ranging from traditional Turkish cuisine that mum makes, through to kebabs and pides. You can't make great food across a great number of items...

The lamb doner kebab was dense, oily and pungent... The salad had no dressing... The bread was not fresh and just re-heated... The spicy dip had an odd smell and flavour... The kids nuggets were bland... The chicken wings were OK, but nothing special... The best part was the Ayran which was bottled from the fridge 😞

A very small annoyance was where we were seated, had a chair for take away customers to wait. Problem was it was less than a metre from our table and my family (along with the customer), just felt weird looking at each other...

Perhaps I got the wrong menu items and the reviews seem to be contrary to my experience. Give it a try to help small business, but we won't be back...

Mixed iskender. Perfect mix of meat sauce and bread. Box packed full or meat. Just enough bread to soak up every bit of delicious juice that drips down to the bottom. This place was packed at 3pm with a short 10min wait time whish is definitely worth it. Best Iskender I have had in a long time!

Great food made fresh. Tasted awesome.

My partner and I booked for 730pm on a Wednesday night, and by 815pm they had all the furniture packed up around us, banging and crashing, ruining any chance of a relaxing meal. I asked what time they close, which apparently was 9pm. The response was that if she didn't get the staff to help her pack up now, she'd be there doing it on her own. Very disappointing to a night we were looking forward to.
On a positive note, the meat platter was delicious.

Came here a while ago to have lunch with my family. It was a great day accompanied by delicious food. I had the Lamb Kavurma with salad and rice on the side. The flavours were great. A little bit pricey but overall a lovely place for a brunch out in Coburg streets!

Went there today and ordered 3 HSP . Chips sat in the baskets for about seven minutes and were cold . No cheese on HSPs. Just a waste of money

If you are after real Turkish cuisines this is the place. The tastes are exactly as if you eat in a restaurant in Istanbul or even better. Hopefully they will expand their business to a more spacious place. We tried Iskender Kebab and Adana Kebab with generously large portions and both were finger licking tasteful. Will come back again soon.

HSP is pretty good, kebab is also great but their bread has to be the best bread I ever had. I often buy bread on its own when we have barbecue at home.

The owner was friendly and so kind that she offered us to sample different dips. She made the dips herself and they tasted so good with rich flavours. Chilli dip is highly recommended! She was also very patient to explain to us different items on the menu. Definitely would come back for such good food and hospitality.

Driven past this place a million times in the last four years always telling my wife we need to try it and tonight finally did wow what can I say this place is amazing, food pricing and atmosphere were 5 star all the way we had the mixed plate and it was so tasty. Thanks for the amazing food and experience we will be back for sure

You might disagree with me but firstly way too much oil and bad tasting oil too, I might feel this way as I don't cook with cheap oils at home. The menemen was too soaked in oil for me, seemed swimming in it and cooked too long in the tomatoes.
The kavurma had too much oil as well so was very unnecessary and the price it is it seemed like it would be bigger or at the least have had better meat used so it wouldn't be so hard to eat.
Now for the breakfast plate, gozleme wasn't the best but overall the sides were all freshly plated and tasted good enough.g the Feta olives kaymak.
Now for the best part, I am from Adana so I've eaten a lot of lahmacun and Adana kebab and all I can say is wow! Well done awesome tender soft just perfect in all aspects, I'm grateful that was my main meal.
I would definitely come back for the lahmacun and Adana.
Just a recommendation of course but just try using butter to cook your menemen and kavurma, it's much healthier and will make it taste better not worse.

*also just a note, not everyone that comes there is from the northern suburbs, some of us travel out to come eat in the northern suburbs once every few months so please just relax and not argue with your customers, even they are your friends or regulars or whatever is happening. There is many people there, no need to ruin other people's experience. Who cares who is right or wrong, that customer was persistent in getting a refund because he misunderstood the waiting times, just let it go. Allah sabır versin inşallah next time someone is testing your patience.

I feel like I've been lied to about kebabs my whole life after eating my first at Katik.

It was a 45 minute drive across town for us, after seeing it on socials.

We'll be back as often as we can. It's just incredible... and so cheap. Fresh. Amazing.

A fantastic place for breakfast .Once you get you're table and order, the meals come very quickly, polite and courteous people the food is delicious and at a good price.

Service was absolute chaos. Two of our meals didn’t arrive until 20 minutes after the rest of the tables. One they confused the order, the second there was no explanation (nor apology for either). My dish was mixed up with someone else’s on the table also but we didn’t initially notice as the meals are covered in sauce so no discernible difference. The staff should have known rather than inspecting them closely trying to work it out as they placed them down (and clearly they got it wrong).

As we were both partway through eating when we realised it didn’t taste as expected we didn’t swap the dishes for hygiene purposes (one was a lamb iskender one was a mixed) resultantly neither of us enjoyed our dinner. The bread and dip were very enjoyable but the large size is not remotely generous and seemed very small to me. Interiors are quite modern and while I get that they are going for atmosphere it is overly dark inside. Super disappointing as I love Turkish cuisine but won’t be going back

I have been to many kebab shops in Melbourne, however I can assure that is the best kebab shop overall.
It has the best price, yummy taste and huge quantity.
In $10 kebab wrap, 1 adult dinner can be done.
Just be prepared to wait for 15 mins or so on weekends evenings.

I heard this place was good, and when I saw those curtains flapping over the doors; I knew it was going to be legit.

I found this place on YouTube, but not how you think. This was the kebab shop that everyone said, "I can't believe you never visited Katik." After someone attempted to visit Melbourne's best kebab shops. I'm not a YouTuber or an influencer. I just love ethnic food and banging coffee.

We were in a bit of a rush, so I didn't take much video footage, unfortunately. We just wanted to dine in and smash the food. I ordered the adana plate, and my friend ordered the mixed plate.

The food was cooked fresh, the mixed plate was quality döner meat and chicken, really tasty. I had never had an adana. It was something completely new to me. It was lamby, meaty, savoury, with capsicum flakes and other spices. The juices soaked into the bread, and it was honestly really delicious. The meat was good alone, but when those juices soak into the break and you wrap it up, it's absolutely banging. Salads were fresh, the sides were tasty, and the star was the adana, though. It's totally new to me and very, very enjoyable.

We sat outside, classic suburb action. Takeaway chairs, trains, and locals being nice to us. I can't wait to come back.

My partner and I have dined at Mecca Bah a couple of times now and it’s been great each time.

Both times we have ordered the platter which is just perfect for the both of us, we also add a side of salad for more variation. The platter comes with different meats such as chicken kebab, lamb kebab, lam cutlets and beef ribs and some breads and sauces which are just delicious.

They have a good selection of drinks and cocktails too which are also great!

Atmosphere is nice and upbeat and staff have always been attentive.

Had my birthday last night. Closed off the whole restaurant. Paid for 100 guests which was the minimum guest number payable. We only had 83 people and still they struggled to accommodate the guest amount.
False promises were made when booking in and let’s say the night was a disappointment. We arrived and hour early to guest arriving to ensure everything was set up, to find the place still not cleaned from the night before. The place was a mess, and not enough staff to get it sorted in time. We had to help by moving tables around, replacing the dirty table cloths with clean linen and help place all the plates and cutlery , and just finished prior to guest arriving. We had the venue booked till 12am. Food wasn’t served on time, nor was it enough for the guests. All night I had to follow up soft drink refills, and food consistently missing on tables. No service throughout , staff looked lost and unsure with what needed to be done. We were promised that no guest would go home hungry, that food will consistently be brought out, it was us following up with the most simple thing like bread. The staff kept taking the guests glasses and cutlery, and at one stage put a bucket on the table and started emptying a guests plate to clean up while they were still eating.
I asked them not to remove or start cleaning because people then think the night is coming to an end when it’s only 10pm, that people are still using their glasses too, but they kept cleaning.
Instead of enjoying and making memories, all I did was run around, stress and kept following up with the staff what was missing and needing to be done. The simplest thing was a guest asked for a black coffee in which was served 5 minutes prior to some people but she had missed out, but was told sorry kitchen closed and the kettle stopped working .

Let’s not forget the outdoor jet heater they have inside the room. This shouldn’t even be used indoors, but all night it just smelt like heavy gas. The owner did not care at all. In his eyes he had made the almost $5K so he didn’t care with how his business was running.

I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone.

If you’re thinking of booking your event, think again and save your money because the owner is a yes yes yes to please prior and then doesn’t come through with the promises.

My special day was ruined and I wouldn’t want anyone else to have the same experience.

Amazing adana, very nice and delicious, highly recommend, however keep in mind that they can get very busy and waiting times could be long.
Decent tables to eat in, but it can be loud.

Went there for Mother's Day lunch with 14 people. Excellent service by Maria and matched by excellent and delicious food. Maria was very gracious and friendly and really made our day special. The food was great and did not have to wait long despite it being a full restaurant. Definitely recommended for large or small groups. We'll be back. 😊

We had a great breakfast there. The service was good and the staff were very friendly. Fresh bread and Turkish breakfast plus a tea pot definitely was nostalgic. The atmosphere is average and could be better but honestly we prefer a good service and a great food which they're ticking the boxes for us👌 definitely will visit this place more and more. Highly recommended

The 3.9 ratings on Google reviews does not do justice to this amazing food place. The dips are delicious especially the spicy one is stunning and really awesome.The portions were very good for the price and customer service was awesome and they make you feel very welcome. Also they made sure that the note I wrote when ordering from table was read by the chef and my meals were accordingly brought out. Other places they forget to read your notes. This place has really gone downhill,
Meat is now served from containers and heated on the grill.

However the Turkish bread is really good.

We spent a $130 on food and got served chips a month old.

We ate at golden grill recently and it was bloody brilliant. They've renovated inside and done a great job making it a bit more upmarket. We ordered the XL mixed plate and shared between two and still took leftovers home. The meat, salads and dips were fresh and delicious. The wine was drinkable and very well priced. And to top it off, the dessert option of Kunefe - a sweet baked pastry filled with cheese was TO DIE FOR! It was absolutely amazing. We were so impressed we are going to get them to cater for our big birthday party coming up.

The fries were extremely fresh but could hardly taste the chicken salt. The burger and the beef patty was delicious, tho the salad isn’t the freshest around closing times. The shop itself is welcoming and well done. The food served here is halal, would try it again.

Genuinely one of the very best. We travel half hour each week just to eat here. The service and food is always beautiful and the price very reasonable. Definitely worth the visit. Oh and the chips on the kids menu are always so fresh and crunchy!! AAA+++

Tried Golden Grill kebab house today. Loved the food specially the HSP. Bread was very soft and fresh (forgot to take pics). This is sliced chicken plate. Serving was generous, had to pack the leftover. Loved the ambience. Staff was very welcoming!

Absolutely loved the HSP, portion size was massive and the staff were the absolute friendliest people ever! Definitely coming back here the next time I'm down from Melbourne 😄

Decided to come back after having a bit of a break.. was very impressed!! New dining area fit out, and overall a better experience. Food was awesome, fresh, and full of flavour. Generous serves and prices were fair. Overall a very pleasant experience. Great, friendly and fast service. Also received complimentary drinks with our dine in meal.
Well done guys, your our new "go to" for Turkish in Werribee.

No nonsense Kebab shop. No frills and they serve fresh food fast, quick and at a reasonable price. The guys are nice and polite. Cash only. The regulars know the drill. The lamb is magic and the feed will keep you full all day. Not a lot of place to sit and eat and chill. The place is so popular that you have to eat and leave. Gem of a place. A highly recommend

Good quantity and quality food, staff were friendly. Very small cozy place. I would recommend any one wants to try nice Turkish breakfast.

Quite simply the best Doner kebab in town. And the other dishes are awesome too. I've been going here since the 80s and it's the same owners. The service isn't great, sometimes they can take a while or forget a few things but they are lovely, hardworking folk who take pride in the quality of their food.

If you want a fancy Michelin grade restaurant go elsewhere. If you want to experience the best Turkish food then come here. Saturday nights are good too to get their authentic experience with the music and belly dancers (not my thing, I'm all about the food!!!).
