One of the greatest art museums I've visited. Lots of interesting things to see here
It’s complicated, on one hand the museum is actually quite cute and informative. But on the other hand you have staff who are incredibly rude, unprofessional and willing to straight up lie. I feel bad for the artisan who slaves away as the staff gab loudly blocking the art :/
The place wasn't very crowded. The staff are nice and whenever we were passing by, they were standing up to be polite and responsive. The ticket price was 20 azn.
A must-visit place when you are in Baku. The building is unique, the carpet collection is stunning and, of course, the souvenir shop collection is so tempting! Beautiful museum. Entrance ticket is 10 Manat (equivalent to 5-6€)/person.
They just display some of their carpets and their culture and history. It’s now worthy compare to ticket prices for a foreigner
A huge museum offering pieces from prehistory through nearly modern day. As a tourist in the country, this was a great stop on day two of the country, so I could get better context on the nation of Azerbaijan and its people.
The museum shaped like a rolled carpet! Unfortunately, the architecture of the museum ended up being my favorite part of the visit. The museum is fine, but there’s not actually that much area for exhibits, and it’s really just a bunch of carpets.
They have a large collection of art, definitely worth the 5 Manat I paid for the entrance fee. It’s a bummer that they don’t allow videos to be taken.
Wow! My sister and I went here and were blown away. To start, a knowledgeable specialist named Negus guided me through the different types of rugs, explaining their origins and the textiles behind each style. The museum is incredibly informative, and the staff was absolutely kind and welcoming. I highly recommend visiting!
I came here quite late (16:55) so I didn't have to wait long. It was an amazing experience but since I was late (the museum closes at 18:00) the staff waited for me and they seemed really happy to be able to go home 10 minutes earlier. I couldn't enjoy the museum because of that but overall, fascinating. It's a huge place so I recommend arriving 2-3 hours earlier if you really wanna get to feel the full experience of being in a museum.
Very kind staff, interesting exhibition, and beautiful carpets all on one place! Unless you are really into carpets, the small section in Heydar Aliyev Center may be enough for you, but if you want to find out more about this art form, you will want to explore this quaint museum with a great architecture.
Wonderful art museum in a beautiful and bright space. Friendly staff and very peaceful to visit. Great to discover some local artists as well as see some famous works by Picasso, Dali, etc

It has much more than I was expecting - whilst the famous internationals don’t have much presence, there truly is an abundance of local artists with gorgeous works.

The museum is a different experience as carpet museums are not very common, the museum is also built in the shape of a folded carpet, inside they try to show history and carpet related information but it's not much thorough, on many displayed items they are not tagged with the numbers as the description of the objects is their but not according to what is what (a basic of any museum). Beautiful samples of carpets are displayed. There is a small cafeteria and a souvenir shop too at the entrance. Shop is relatively a bit expensive.
Was tinned by the beauty of this building, other than a great collection of exhibits I could easily spend the entire afternoon wandering around.
The highlight was saved at last for the indoor display of the palace, including a dining room, an office and a bedroom.

This was a very nice museum. Things were explained pretty well on signs, and there is an option to get a guide for a small fee.

To me this was one of the best museums in Baku. It doesn’t seem that big but it has a lot to see inside. Museum employees were super nice. I’d recommend to buy the ticket with the guide because the story has an important role.
A must see Museum in Baku. There is a Dali sculpture as well as a Picasso. But the local modern art is phenomenal and very refreshing!
Lot to learn and know here. Please consider at least 2 hours to properly go through everything.

The museum is definitely worth visiting. I’m giving 4 stars only because the employees are rude, follow every step you make and made me feel uncomfortable.
I have gone there weekday and after work (about 7:10 pm). Unfortunately, I had less time for visit every work of art and enjoy. So beautiful! Sure, these pieces made me think about women and love.
I suppose to all of us need to visit there.

I went to the house museum of Haji Zeynalabid Taghiyev. The ticket for students was 2 manats. It was wonderful, according to the guide, each room was designed in a different style, and a total of 6 design styles were used. but they did not have much understanding about it. The point that I did not like at all was the disrespect of the employees to the guests. I was seriously disturbed by their private conversations or telephone conversations while walking around the museum.

I don't remember exactly but I visited on a day that entrence was free for everyone. It's a nice art museum. The building floors are a bit old, but the whole place has a retro vibe.

A stunning mosque with a beautiful pearl green interior. It’s a peaceful place with one of the most beautiful tiles I’ve seen. It’s one kind of a jewel and definitely worth a visit.

Amazing art collection. Definitely different from other modern art museums. The pieces are mostly oriented towards the regional talent and taste. The museum is exquisitely arranged and the art pieces tastefully displayed. The overall visit experience is extremely pleasant and absolutely recommended.

This was an inspirational delight! A wonderful display of modern art in many different styles, through paintings, prints, sculptures, etc. Superbly imagined and created by an incredible range of artists, all set in a modern desingner gallery with a cafe that is a work of art, but let down only by the coffee machine that wasn't working!
First step into the mosque and i was awed by its intricate tile work. The mesmerising shades of green will leave anyone captivated.

Now they are renovating from the inside, but there is a separate place where we could pray. Beautiful MashaAllah
The museum is quite old-style. There's one permanent exhibition which, according to the guide, changes slightly when new exhibits arrive. But it mostly comprises of the Soviet-era portraits of the premodern national poets and the personal items of the later writers. The exhibition's structure is chronological and there's hardly any concept behind the composition. You can feel the top-down approach imposed by the museum's leadership already at the entrance. They tend to control each movement of visitors with time limitations and mandatory guides. The staff at the cloak room were sarcastic towards my critical remarks and lacked professionalism, but the guide was helpful. You can visit if you're particularly interested in the topic. Otherwise, the building of the museum is much more impressive.

Pros: Interesting artifacts, not a busy museum which allows you space to explore, inside a beautiful building in a beautiful area of the city

They didn't have AC on and even on the thermosats visible in several rooms, you'd see the temperature was at least 26 degrees. You have to pay extra to take photographs and as I opted out of that, I was followed from room to room by attendants who watched me the entire time, which was extremely uncomfortable. At one point, one of these young women was watching videos on her phone while in the room with me which was obviously distracting. But worst of all: the woman's bathroom (there's only 1 on the first floor) was like something out of a horror film. Dirty, out-dated, poor lighting. I never wanted to get out of somewhere faster – and yet I heard, the men's bathroom is fine. What kind of misogyny is that?
This could be a great museum, a gem in the city, but all of these cons need to be fixed first. Please take this review seriously so as to not ruin the experience for other tourists.

The music museum is very intetesting, the guide was nice snd knowledgeable, good English too. The entry fee is 5 manat, cash only.
I visited the place just at the right time. It was drizzling a bit, and there wasn't much crowd around. The view was beautiful with all the clouds and rain showers it felt serene. A big thank you to the little girl who was distributing candies around, and she gave me 8!! By the way, the place is a little outside the city, so don't rely on Bolt on your way back coz there is an 80% chance you might get stuck. Try to bargain with the taxi guys standing out they aren't bad either. I paid 10mn to reach Nizami Street.
I was expecting much more, as this seems to be a famous mosque. There are no lights at night like other ones.

Beautiful mosque. Loved the peaceful vibe of the place. It wasn't crowded. Just a few minutes away from main city, Baku.
The most horrible experience in azerbaijian. The exhibitions are fine. But the environment is terrible. During my visit( about 30 minutes), the are more than 7 couples taking their wedding pictures. And also some girls photoing and laughing. It is very hard for visitors to see the exhibition, not mention enjoy
If you are a fan of modern art, your will spend hours inside. Huge halls in 2 floors with lots of items that will blow up your mind

Hard to believe it is still standing since the 11th century. Worth passing by to experience the history of the Old City

Museum has a decent history exhibit but if you speak English, there is literally only one room with English signs. You'll have to get a guide to get anything out of your visit.

Very nice mosque located slightly far away from city center and we had to hire a taxi to get here and it was really worth paying a visit. The mosque was closed to visitors and may be it is open during praying time and may be only for those who come to offer prayers, however, the premises around the mosque is free to enter and open to visitors to visit and enjoy the beauty of this mosque from outside

The design of the mosque was wonderful , I recommend to visit it at night because it is more beautiful than the day
Super interesting museum, the guide was so intelligent and nice, I wish I could listen more and more, but you have only one hour inside and no photos allowed. But I don’t care about photos. I want to explore exposition, but you must go further cuz your time limited. So sad. I want to pay more and listen more, and watch all books and stuff. A lot of people inside and they only work is to switch off the lights after you’ll left the room. Please, make more options to visit this place, one hour it’s not enough at all

founded in 1936. it's the largest museum in Baku, featuring works of ancient art from as early as the 4th century. spread across 3 floors, the 3000+ exhibits from Russia, Europe, Persia, China, Turkey, and Japan are all very well presented & maintained. there are several staff members who help at every step & constantly on the lookout for safety concerns due to thefts in the past (albeit this may be an annoyance for a few). entry fee starts as low as 10 mannat, and you may need between 2 to 4 hours to cover the entire space.
10 AZN entry for foreigners, cash no cc accepted. An extra 2 AZN for a separate short Chinese exhibit. Three floors of art, the bottom floor mostly European artists, Italian and Dutch. Upper floor statues and paintings from local artists mostly from the middle of last century. A number of carpets, various artifacts throughout. I spent a good hour and some there. The building is nice, oddly there didn't seem to be anywhere to sit and ponder some the artwork. The beautiful garden with a fountain adjacent to this building is an excellent place to relax after.
Magnificent and breathtaking! We visited during the day and came back at night to see the lighting effects. It was well worth the effort!

Located a bit further away from most tourist areas, but it is a short and inexpensive ride with Bolt or Uber. I went in the early evening because I wanted to see it in daylight and once the sun set.

Amazing mosque. It was actually built in the 13th century but destroyed in 1936. I have uploaded the actual mosque picture as well. If you visit Baku, this should be on list to visit and spend some time up there. There is a beautiful view of Baku city from the mosque.

What an amazing place located just at the centre of Baku! Near to sahil metro, Targovy, Malakan and Boulevard. Easy to enter. 5 storey building with full of exponents and 3 different museums which wait for you to visit.
Visited Istiglaliyyat and musical museums, which I didn't find attractive. Kind old place. Which needs a bit of reconstruction. Beautiful mosque, a must visit for nice pictures and to view the architecture of the mosque from the outside, however it was closed for public to go inside the actual mosque, there was a little prayer area on the side that was open to offer prayers but that was just a small hall.

The worst organised museum I've ever been to in my entire life. Everything as much mashed nothing is labelled underneath the panning you can't tell when the artist lived or died it is a total disaster. Where is the great Dali sculpture in the museum but you have to really know what the heck you're looking for. I think the curator of this museum should be fired as he shows NO RESPECT for the artist. There are however some great pieces in there but they're very hard to find in the museum is so massively disorganized.

Price for locals is 5 manat,for students is 2 manat, for foreigner is 10 manat. All in all,its more about local literature,it can be interesting if you read about it. I liked exposition about poets . Stuff was so nice,they explained me everything,just pity that its prohibited take photo there
A beautiful building located in Neftchilar Avenue reminding ancient Greek architecture with columns. There's also a large and very nice fountain in Seaside Boulevard across the street. If you stand so that the fountain and the museum center will remain behind you when it is dark in the evening, you will shot amazing photographs 📸

The museum is quite beautiful mosque, with a good inventory of items that are displayed there.
It seems the mosque-museum attract less than what is expected visitors and tourists, but it worth than you might consider.

Very good baku is very beautiful city
A must see for art lovers in Baku. Each floor is elegantly housed to art collections from around the world, as well as a vast collection dedicated to Azerbaijan history and culture. Dutch, German, and French art collection is simply breathtaking
