I’m a visitor from New Jersey…I have dined in all over the world and I have never seen such a clown at reception, the only thing missing was a clown nose. By far the worst customer service I have ever witnessed. The man kept insisting on cash despite the fact that I told him I am from the US and don’t have Canadian. He than asked me to pay in US currency but with a 1-1 exchange. When I didn’t agree, he became extremely rude and swore at me. I tried to calm the situation but the man went on and on. He began to threaten me at which time I decided to leave. This man is older than my dad or I would have answered his inappropriate hurls in kind.
The customer service was very bad and surprised to hear that it will cost me a dollar extra for each order if you get three order separate. His words were “we don’t give extra “. He assumed that if i get three separate order i get some extra that was wrong assumption. The person at the front desk did not have any manners. There was no menu at all, nothing on the display and did not provide enough time to place the order. The portion was okay when I opened the box at home. Too much oil to fill the box.

I have personally enjoyed the food at this establishment. However, I believe that as business owners, it is imperative to extend kindness and respect to all customers, irrespective of their order choices. Regrettably, I had an experience at this food establishment that left me feeling disappointed with the service and hospitality. In my opinion, providing customer service training or similar courses to the staff could greatly enhance their ability to interact with patrons in a more respectful and welcoming manner.

Recently, I had an extremely unpleasant experience at this place, to the extent that I've made the firm decision never to return, despite enjoying their breakfast in the past. My criticisms primarily revolve around the behavior of the man who greets customers at the front, whom I've previously excused due to my appreciation for the food. However, it's become apparent that he is inherently rude and insincere in his customer service approach. Witnessing his treatment of the women in the kitchen, who I presume are from his family, was deeply troubling.

During my most recent visit, his young daughter, who is notably kind and gentle, was present during Eid celebrations. When a minor order mix-up occurred, he reacted with excessive anger, bordering on physical violence, in full view of everyone present. The hurtful words he directed at her were utterly inappropriate for a father. It's astonishing that he lacks any sense of shame or decency, especially considering his position as a representative of the local Pakistani community. This behavior is unacceptable, and I sincerely hope he reads this review and endeavors to amend his conduct, as I'm certain many others have observed his behavior. To the hardworking women in the kitchen and his daughters, I extend my heartfelt apologies. You deserve better.

Customer service is horrible. Uncle at the front desk did not have any manners. I walked in and asked him to tell me what the price is for the breakfast deal, he said "$10". Then I asked how much a single puri is and he looked at me and took a little time and said "$3 it will cost you a lot, you don't understand kid, just get 5 breakfast deals".

I was not given a menu and there were no prices on the board. He was making up prices as he went. I bought 5 breakfast deals which is supposed to have 2 puri, halwa, aloo, and chanay. Look at the picture. He just made up the servings as he pleased. Aloo serving is not for 5 people (3 at most) and very questionable. Chanay are made up of 75% oil and 25% of actual food.

I asked him to explain how the portions worked. Why are there 4 boxes instead of 5 if I ordered 5 meals. He simply said "you won't understand kid, its enough for you".
(Interaction took place in urdu)

This man had no professionalism and to treat anyone like this is very disturbing.
My opinion, go anywhere but here. He does selective pricing based on appearance and gender and has no communication skills.
Lovely place. Got all my necessary bangladeshi products.

Be careful before paying and check the prices before and after the tax l. first time they charged me extra amount for the coffee and second time they charged me triple tax amount, I argued and he fixed it. Lots of people won't pay attention though. It's a shame they called themselves muslims and do that.

Everytime I go to Danforth and Victoria area, I always pass by to this market. I like the green leafy vegetables (spinach and taro leaves) they are selling.
Good pricing too. The store has more Indian goods which is not so much difference from Filipino goods.

The best halwa puri breakfast!! The aloo channa and halwa were all super flavorful. We have been here a couple of times and the halwa puri has been good although it seems like the uncle doesn’t like me. I didn’t want to lower the rating too much because I do want to support this business but I ordered seekh kababs and they were pre-made and microwaved dry. Next time I will be sticking with the halwa puri.

Very helpful staff helped me pick out a fun selection of unique cooking sauces to try. Prices seem to be reasonable for a boutique food shop.

Favorite place to buy spices and sauces. Really like that they have 20% Discount when you buy $100 which is is great deal and I enjoy their store experience in Granville.
Good grocery store for Indian and Bangladeshi items. It has Indian fishes and meat options and nice and fresh vegetables as well.
The store comparatively bigger and spacious than other indian grocery stores.

First time to this place, was looking for Nihari and google showed Tandoori host as one Option. I was looking for Pakistani taste. Ordered Nihari, Paiy, Haleem and Channa on the chef’s choice.

Fully satisfied with the taste and crispy naans. I will surely recommend it for trying Pakistani taste.

A gem in this city. If you love to cook, this is a store that you need visit regularly. So many flavours and sauces and spices, when you arrive be prepared to take some time- the shop is tiny, but there is so much to choose from! And if you get lost, the staff are super approachable and knowledgeable and happy to help you find the flavours you're looking for. I've shopped here a few times now and have always had a great experience. Can't wait for my next visit!

Great selection of obscure ingredients—zaatar, black garlic, curry leaves, Mediterranean couscous, preserved lemon, dried fish heads, fresh galangal and more... if you like buying ingredients you've never used before and then trying to build a meal around them, it's a great place to shop.

The two best sections for me are 1) the wall of fire, which has a great selection of hot sauces ranging from the accessible to the downright challenging (one time they had carolina reaper puree, which took me two years to get through, and I mean that as a commendation); and 2) an excellent selection of cookbooks, from David Chang to Ottolenghi to classics like the Herb & Spice Bible.

Check this place out if you like exploring more out-of-the-way corners of the retail culinary scene.

Love their selection, most staff were very helpful in finding a good hot sauce to take back with us!

Only reason we did not rate higher is that one member of staff (a very tall portly man) was verbally very aggressive and called my wife and I "childish" because we were looking for a less spicy hot sauce, he also was very dismissive of other staffs suggestions which made an otherwise pleasant visit to your store slightly uncomfortable.

Edit: My wife jumped the gun and posted her own reviews disclosing information our daughter was not comfortable with being shared, we haven't been back since but we decided as a team to remove her review out of respect for our daughter's privacy.

I would like to start of by saying that the food was incredible! Tastes exactly like someone’s mom had made it and based on the staff I could see I’m pretty sure that’s the case. The nihari was full of flavours, more than usual. Buttery tender meat and the paaya was also phenomenal. The naan and keema naan were probably one of the best I’ve ever had, fresh out of the tandoor.
That being said the service was utter disappointment. The gentleman sitting at the counter, not sure owner or employee had zero care about his surroundings. Waited at the counter for about 5 minutes for him to finish his phone call(did not sound important at all). And he didn’t even acknowledge me standing there. He took his sweet time to finish and then casually took the order. So it’s understandable that despite having amazing food why the restaurant was dead and reviews aren’t great. Still I’d recommend going there just for the food and overlook the service, it’s definitely worth it.
Marhaba super market is one of the popular supermarkets in Danforth Avenue in Toronto. They have huge stock of fish, meat, Desh and frozen vegetables, bakery items, other groceries like rice, pulses, spices, cooking oils, etc. plus sweets. This is very popular among Bangladeshi communities living there.

This shop is a lovely find in Granville market. They have various unconventional items that you might not find in other big Asian supermarkets.

They carry everything from South East Asian, Thai, Indian. Great selection. There’s even a cookbook shelf??!! And the best thing, the guy at the counter is so helpful and well informed and carries a great conversation :)
Marhaba is a good place to find a wide variety of Asian groceries in Toronto. They have a large selection of fresh produce, meat, seafood, and prepared foods, as well as a wide variety of dry goods and snacks.

I especially like for fresh deshi vegetables and some items that are difficult to find at other grocery stores. They also have a good selection of halal meats.

Here are some specific things that I like about Marhaba Supermarket:

Wide variety of fresh produce, meat, seafood, and prepared foods
Large selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, including many items that are difficult to find at other grocery stores.
Good selection of halal meats.

I would recommend Marhaba to anyone looking for Asian groceries.
If your looking for some not so easy to find ingredients in the Granville Island market... this is your place. Don't be mislead. It's not only asian ingredients, a fair amount of their products haul from central and South America also.
