We stayed here in the two bedroom cottage and we loved it. It was cozy with wifi for the kids and a splash pad for them to play in right in front of the cottages. Location was perfect, it was only a 4 minute walk to the beach, certain restaurants, and the main road. Perfect stay.

Amazing location..we stayed in cottage # 9 and nearby to trampoline, fire pit, playarea. Mature tress get you feel that you are away from city. 5 mins walk from main beach.

Not a fashionable but reasonable.

Tom was great help to provide free fire logs and very helpful guy.

Missing Amenities like bedsheets, toilet papers, pillow but we got to know before we arrived so we were prepared.

Overall we were happy and would recommend to others.
Amazing cottage I love the space and how close it is to the beach, I've gone to this cottage number 3 my whole life. 5 STARS!!!
Fantastic so grateful for the time we spent there. We were only a 10 minute walk from the beach. Every night we went to the beach to see the most epic sunsets.
My friends got married there. The front desk persons can't tie their shoes without calling a manager. My friend has medical needs for heating pads but they couldn't find her a microwave (there was one right behind the desk they could have given her for 2 nights) and they had no glasses (a country club with a bar???) The rooms looked like Great Aunt Ester decorated in 1902, and smelled like her after she died. The supper was served by incompetent waitstaff, we had spoiled cream for coffee and someone found a bread clip in the food. Awful place. Find a better venue to get married.
Be warned that they don't put prices up because they are looking to price-gouge unsuspecting tourists. I was charged $963 for a three-night off-season double room here. Something I'd be willing to pay for a resort, not a motel.

Amenities: Lacking. Restaurant, closed. Gym, closed. Hot tub, closed. By September 20. Wifi couldn't sustain video calls, dropped frequently. After many attempts to contact, the manager offered $40 refund via email but didn't apply any and stopped replying to me.

Reception: Unreliable (friendly when available, but not very helpful). Left a key at reception for my partner who was arriving later; by 8:30 pm, front doors were locked, no one to hear us knock, nor was I notified this would be the case. Yes I know the staff is hard to come by. I think the cost could be adjusted accordingly.

Rooms: Outdated. A leaking sink with discolored water ruined my toiletries, and staff who changed the towel didn't even bother to wipe the soaked countertop. Expect only a towel change and no complimentary water. At least the view was nice.

They did offer a king room upgrade which I appreciated, so the price I paid was originally for a double room.

This place does exist and is sort of open, but is eerily empty off season and the worst value stay I've ever had.

I don’t enjoy writing negative reviews but I know several of my other traveling friends had a poor experience as well, so I felt the need to share my own experience.

I really wish I could have resolved some of this with the manager via the weeks of emails they chose to ignore.
On September 2, 2023 we stayed there for one night but were charged for two (2 and 3 September 2x$199 + tx). When we arrived at the end of the day, the front desk clerk (Emrich?) handed us the key to lodge #24. We got in my wife and I but the room was smelly and dirty. We thought it was expensive to pay for the offer. We returned to the reception desk and mentioned our dissatisfaction to the employee who offered us an immediate refund for the two nights. We declined because it was late and we had no other place to sleep. The employee never told us it was now or never for the possible credit of the second night. The next morning we requested a refund for the second night and it was refused. I asked for a copy of the invoice, but it was not available.
The employee assured me that I would receive it by email. After several minutes of back and forth discussions where the employee was closed and arrogant, we had to resume our journey and returned to the Borden-Carleton tourist information booth to make an official complaint.
In the end we were charged on my Master Card for two nights without ever receiving the invoice.
I was looking for a place to stay for 1 night with the kids. We rented cottage #2. It was exceptionally clean, cozy, adorable and affordable. Great location right across from the water. The cottage had everything we needed. The man running the place was super friendly and very attentive to our needs. The kids loved it and we will definitely go here again ❤️
It is overly priced but I guess with inflation every business canada wide has great price rise.

They seemed to be short staffed, but did a great job overall!

Room was clean and bed was very comfortable!
Ac was bit noisy the first day and seemed not cooling on second day of our stay.
When advised they upgraded me to King suite water view on the third floor and oh my god what a breathtaking view.

Rest 2 nights were great in my king suite.
Great location! Stayed in one bedroom lodge unit! They are pretty old but are maintained well. Was there for a wedding and enjoyed my stay! One of the staff member even dropped and picked us up at 1 am from clinton hills as there was no taxi service and we were stuck.
Overall i was very happy with everything!
Perfect spot for a family get together!
I was bit worried before my check in hearing about earwigs but we stayed in one of the big 3 bedroom cottage and it was really spacious and it had the old lifestyle vibe which I liked the most.

The restaurant at the property was closed but the front desk girl advised they do offer food for people staying at the resort and it was delicious. We had fish and chips , pizza and salad and it was just amazing.
There is a little bar at the property as well.

Hot tub was closed but the pool was open. I wish they had the heated pool but that’s okay we enjoyed our time with family in there.

There was housekeeping every day and they cleaned our cottage when we left to visit other places at the beautiful Island. When we came back our cottage was neat and clean.

We stayed here for 5 nights, prices were bit high but we enjoyed ourselves. Internet was on and off the first two nights but worked for rest of our stay.

I can say it was a beautiful visit overall and I am glad we were there!
Location was nice. There was a playground near by. However, the interior was really dirty and not well cleaned. Pots in the kitchen were rusted. Overall the inside was not great. Don't recommend unless you want to stay in dirty cottage.

Mary Lou saved our family vacation!! We've been going to Port Elgin for over 25 years and with our last accommodation of 16 years no longer renting we were beyond upset.

Mary Lou had 3 cottages available (normally rented 6) for the week after we normally go up and with us asking called us each time she had a cancelation giving us 4 cottages.

We instantly felt welcomed and comfortable. Having going for so long we had certain things we've done for years (moving tables to eat as a family etc) which Mary Lou had no issues at all with us doing. We are a large crowed of 12 adults, 4 teens and 2 babies so being "quiet" isn't always easy, she had 0 complaints.

The cottages were clean and comfortable.

I would highly recommend staying here!!

Thank you so very much Mary Lou.
The restaurant was closed. The pool was dirty. The hot tub was empty and the spa was non existent. We were 3 of 4 guests in the entire hotel. The front door was locked at 11 and no staff to be seen at 07.
A very kind housekeeper made us breakfast.

It was alright. My daughter said the pool is more for small kids/children under 11, which I agree with her.

Nice secure place
We were there for a wedding reception. The food was very good but it's the first time ever that the dishes from the previous course weren't removed. They just stacked the next part of the meal on top of the previous courses.
We just got back from staying here and we had an amazing time! The location is great. We went with 2 small children and there was a brand new splash pad across the street as well as a park and beautiful beach in walking distance. Lots of things for kids to do on the property as well like large trampoline, small swingset and slide and other Miscellaneous toys. Tom was fabulous from beginning to end , he had everything we needed and was very accommodating. Cottages were well equipped with everything we needed and spacious, we will definitely be back!!

Hi all..
We are James and Wendy..
We have stayed at Northshore cottages many times.
We were surprised and very pleased that a roof had been added to the patio/decks on some of the units.. we had a light rain one evening but were still able to enjoy the deck..
Great addition..! Well done.!
We have always found our cabin very clean. ,even better than some motels we have stayed in before.
The manager , (Tom) is so easy to get along with and you feel more like good friends.
Tom goes above and beyond....if there is an issue...he's right on it.
We find it very quiet and relaxing.
AC works great.. wifi.. great.. heat available if needed

The location is second to none.
Splash pad and park right across the street.... marina.. and beach all within walking distance..
Beautiful waterfront trail to watch the sunset..
Close to stores where you can get anything you want or need.

We feel very at home.
Thank you Tom.
The location is perfect for the splash pad and the beach. The cabin we had was very basic and was very dirty when we arrived. We had to request a broom and mop to clean it ourselves. The mattresses were very old and uncomfortable in Cabin #3 but more modern ones in other cabins. Would definitely chose a different cabin if we ever went back.
Great family cottages in a nice and quiet area of tiny.
Family owned business going back several decades. They treated me like family while I stayed with them
Exceeded my expectations! I stopped here for a night with some friends while getting caught in the rain on a long drive. We rented "The Grange," aka the 5 person cabin. It is very secluded; we played loud music and had no issues. Everything is very inexpensive. The location is beautiful and rustic, there is an ecclectic bar (cheap drinks) and common area with a kitchen, there is a beautiful beach with a lovely view of the stars. It is right by Parc Forillon and a nice waterfall trail that is fine on a rainy day. Would definitely recommend!

Great work but needs some serious updates especially the outdated and poor playground for the older kids. Pool never opens on time, closed often because of chlorine water level issues. They give out now free sports equipment for kids which is nice.
Fan.... tas... tic.
We had the most amazing family getaway here! Beautiful little cottage, perfect beach town with lots of shopping, and the manager Tom was so friendly and helpful! My children ages 8, 10, and 14 loved it. Having the splash pad and park across the street was a great bonus and the sunsets were absolutely stunning! It was everything we hoped for and more. We can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful park. The bathrooms were open so that was great.
Great park!! I go every day with this little guy
Very clean. Absolutely no bugs during my stay. Not even a spider. Very happy with my stay.
Gorgeous beach though very short this year due to very high water levels. Good place to be if you are self sufficient and prepared.
Such a positive, fun, community vibe. I wanted to extend my stay in Gaspé just to spend an extra day at this hostel. I liked it so much I’d consider working there a summer! Yoga in the morning is an extra 10$ but truly excellent! Very easy going and generous staff.

Has tennis courts, a baseball diamond and a couple soccer fields, has a hockey rink in the winter. A pretty small pool next to a small playground. Average park
Very cool place, a lot like the Sea Shack, but more northern in Gaspesie. The bar is up on a cliff, so to get to the beach, it is a long staircase to the beach area. I was told it is quite new the stairs.
The bar area is very quaint and rustic, they seem to use a lot of recycled material. They have activities for folks that come here to camp or hang out for a drink.
The staff are friendly and their beer selection is awesome. I tried the sour beer, very good! Although not for everyone, I enjoyed the tang, for me it was refreshing. You can ask to sample the beer.
They have themed party nights, tonight is Hawaiian.
The mini chalets look very cozy, and they do offer lots of camping spaces.

These places are over priced! If you like living close quarters to your neighbours enjoy! If you want to get away from the city for peace and quiet this isn’t the place.

She wants to charge construction workers 1800/month for a 2 bedroom cottage in the winter! Absolutely criminal!!
My family has been coming here for years, and the cottages never disappoint!
You will never find a place this close to the beach in this price range. There is a reason families come back year after year for decades.
The layout is similar to a motel efficiency unit. Very friendly folks!

If you are visiting Port Elgin for the beaches or to explore nature, or even just to stay for a few months working contract jobs at Bruce, look no further!! Best cottage rentals in town. Reasonable prices. Walking distance to the pubs and downtown. Marry has your back.
I love the location and the community spirit. This place is not for those that expect hotel amenities; the accommodations are basic and you will have to clean your own dishes. The location is awesome, with a stairway to the beach. Every aspect is eco-friendly; repurposed materials are used in the cabins and lodge, and recycling and composting are encouraged. The bar is well stocked and a campfire burns at night. Meals are reasonably priced and good quality or you can cook for yourself in a community kitchen or in a cabin.

One of the most amazing experiences I've had in my life. Not only beautiful scenery and super clean but just amazingly ran.

Was very quiet and 3 bedroom cottages slept 4 of us perfectly. Running water in cottages and bathroom and shower in cottage made for relaxing and great for after the beach.

Also only a 3 minute walk from a beautiful beach with Awesome fry shack and all paddleboards and water stuff to rent also huge boat dock and rentals available. Only 25 minutes away from sauble beach.

My 6th day here I would have to say even with couple days rain it was a superb trip and experience for all of us. Definatly going to come back next year without a doubt this place will be where I go for any summer vacation.

Great soccer, baseball and tennis facilities. Well kept and maintained. The bigger park used to be better but still ok for kids. Watch out for swings, if rusty they can break. All the sports facilities are lots of fun!
Great atmosphere! Spent two night camping at the end of September. All the facilities are clean and well maintained. Great little bar and kitchen area with great staff. We did not sleep in any o the cabins or dormitories but did take a look at them and they all seamed great. Highly recommeneded. Perfectly situated to be a home base while visiting percé and the national parks around.
